Solitude implies that we might have to spend some time with our inner demons, and that thought seems daunting for both parties! Perhaps the idea of waiting for death when we are physically frail and unable to put up a fight is scary. Maybe we want to hold onto our thoughts and keep them on a tight leash, lest they run amok. What if we cannot tame the beast, and worse, what if it tames us? Who is going to save you from yourself?
