Like a performer slapping on the pancake make-up and adding the final touches to their get-up before stepping out on stage for the performance of their life. Thick mascara clumps hid the lack of sparkle that once inhabited those very eyes. We take centre stage and anxiously wait for a response from the spectators as we perform our routine because we all know just how necessary the approval of others is; we need that validation and encouragement in our lives to keep the show going.
