CHAPTER 39

AMARA'S POV

The party's going smooth, obviously. There's also a famous band performing in front, so, I am just watching other people dance in the middle.

"Amara, sayaw tayo!"- Nathan smiled widely, offering a hand to me. Mabilis na hinawakan ako ni Samuel sa kamay ko sa ilalim ng lamesa.

"No, no. I'm okay here. Enjoy ka."- umiling iling ako sa kaniya. He just tilted his head a little bit, and nodded before going in the middle of the crowd.

"Very good, Babe. Sa akin ka lang makikipagsayaw."- Samuel caressed my hand as he pouted on me.

"Tss. As if I'll dance either."

Uminom na lang ako ng wine habang napapatingin-tingin sa paligid. My eyes caught the long table, containing a lot of foods. I did not eat my dinner yet, though I'm on a diet. Walang gaanong tao doon dahil nagsasayaw nga sila halos. Hays. Mabuti na 'yon, baka mahiya pa akong pumunta doon kapag maraming tao.

"What? Uupo ka lang---"

"SAMUEL! COME HERE, LET'S DANCE!"

'What the hell?'

Napasapo ako sa dibdib ko nang marinig ko ang sobrang lakas na pagtawag ni Danica, kaya merong napapalingon sa gawi namin. Gosh! She's so energetic! Kitang-kita ko sa kaniya kung gaano siya kadaldal, I think?

"No, thanks. I'm---"- tatanggi na rin sana siya katulad ko, nang lumapit sa kaniya si Danica. I chuckled when she grabbed Samuel's arm that made his eyes widened.

"Halika na, dali! Mabilis lang!"- she started pulling this man, who looks stupid now because I could see his eyes were getting scared.

Oh, really? Samuel's scared? Akala ko sa'kin lang takot 'yan. Danica was just a new face to the both of us, I never imagined her being this friendly and... clingy? Lol.

Lumingon sa'kin si Samuel, pero kaagad akong nag-iwas ng tingin. Alam kong hihingi ng tulong 'yan, pero bahala siya, babae na ang lumalapit sa kaniya, 'no. Don't tell me he will ignore this girl? Ang gandang babae no'n. So, I had to avoid his pleading gazes.

"Shit. Babalik ako, Irish, ah? D'yan ka lang!"- rinig kong aniya.

Natawa na lang ako dahil sa paglingon ko sa kaniya, hinihila na siya ni Danica papuntang crowd. They left me here, alone. The three boys, Nathan, Shan and Gavin are now dancing, all of them actually. I kept refusing to dance, anyway. Tumagal pa ako ng konti sa inuupuan ko bago ko napag-desisyonang tumayo at maglakad papunta sa cater.

"Wow."- I whispered when I saw a lot of food.

Sa sobrang haba ng lamesa, hindi ko na alam kung anong pipiliin kong pagkain. Kahit pa na diet ako, hindi ako makapili.

Oh God. Help me control my mouth.

The waitress at the edge of the long table handed me a plate and spork. Inalok ako ng rice ng isa pang waiter na nag-aassist din sa foods, pero tinanggihan ko 'yon. Fresh Spring Rolls with Spawn, Deep Fried Spring Rolls with Minced Pork, Green Mango Salad with Smoked Fish, Khmer Beef Salad, Spicy Chicken Papaya Salad with Prawn, Tempura of Prawn Vegetables, etc.

Jeez! Hindi ba halos mamantika 'yon? Tsk.

So, since it's Tuesday today and dinner na, kumuha na lang ako ng Salmon with butter and vegetables. I said thank you to the waitress and headed at the middle to go get some sparkling water. There's actually a lot of beverages out there, but I chose the sugar-free carbonated. But, I was about to ask the crew, when someone came up.
