Chapter 21: Back to Work

I am sorry. It has been over a month since the last chapter for this story and I feel awful that it has taken that long for me to write this chapter. I feel even worse since this is easily the shortest chapter that I have ever written and it may not be my best work. I was at a stand still and had no idea of what I wanted to do with this story, but I think that I have some sort of route mapped out for these next few chapters. This is more of a jumping point chapter and used to simply move towards bigger and better chapters. Again, I deeply apologize to you all for the long and unannounced hiatus that I took for this story and I hope that I am able to do better for you all in the coming future. I hope that you all enjoy this chapter, are doing well during this time, and have a great day. As always, thank you so much for the support...even on a story that I have been slacking on.

"Good morning my love." You slowly open your eyes and see Brigitte's sleepy smile beaming at you.

"Hi beautiful." You reply as you pull her in close.

"Mmmm I wish we were still in Sweden." She says as she nuzzles her head into your chest. "I miss being able to do this all day."

"Until your father would start yelling at you to give him a hand in the workshop." She lets out a giggle before pulling back and looking at you with loving eyes.

"It was a great holiday, but sadly we cannot take a vacation forever. The world still needs us." You brush a strand of hair out of her face and rub her cheek.

"You are right. Come on." You reply as you start to roll out of bed, but she grabs your hand and pulls you down to her.

"I mean, eventually we have to get back to work. You know," She says as she shifts and sits on your stomach, her messy auburn hair flowing wildly, "no one else is back yet from their vacations."

"Yeah, Lena and Josh are still in London for another two days, Fareeha and Angela got approved for extended time off and won't be back for another two weeks, and everyone else is gone till next week or just kind of relaxing around since the base is dead and there is nothing going on."

"Sounds to me like we could push off some stuff until later today or even tomorrow." She leans in close to your face with a smile, resting her hands on next to both sides of your head. "There is not too much to do if no one is here." You smile as wraps her arms around you neck and pushes down into a kiss as you place your hands on her waist and pull her in close. After a while, she pulls away and smiles at you.

"You are so handsome, you know that?" She says to you, causing a tint of red to come across your face. She giggles and pulls you into another kiss until you hear your phone vibrating next to you.

"Hello?" You answer as Brigitte cuddles into your chest.

"Hi (Y/N)! How was your flight back?"

"It was good Lena. How has London been?" You reply.

"Oh it has been great! Joshy and I have been having an amazing time!"

"Joshy?" You say with a smirk. "How has he been?"

"Oh he loves it here! Says that he is so happy that he came along."

"Mmm I am sure that he is." You say with a chuckle. "Is there anything that you need Lena?"

"Just wanted to say hi love. How is Brigitte doing?" 

"She is good" you say as you smile down at the Swede wrapped around you. "We are just enjoying some quiet time on the base before everyone gets back. We have to work on some gear before everyone returns, but right now we are just relaxing."

"Sounds good love! You two have fun and we will see you in a few day.s"

"I'll talk to you later Lena." The cheery Brit hangs up and you toss your phone onto the stand next to you. Brigitte rests her chin on your chest and looks up at you.
