it all started when you decided to walk to a corner store in the middle of the night. you grabbed enough drinks and snacks to help you pull a few all-nighters. then, you headed to the cash register and paid for your newly acquired midnight snacks.
once you were handed a bag with said items, you headed out of the store and start to walk home. however, you heard something crash as you were walking. you looked around and saw a dark alley and proceeded to look at what was happening before you.
"alright, let's go boys," you heard someone speak and people walking. you swiftly moved and hid in the shadows of some crates that were sitting in the alley.
but then, you felt something cold against your forehead. "you need something, miss?" a voice spoke to you. you heard a trigger to a gun being pulled back and realized what was against your forehead. "gonna give you five seconds to answer me. five. four. three."
"i-i'm sorry! i was... i was w-walking home! p-please don't shoot me," your voice cracked several times when you spoke.
"close your eyes."
"excuse me?"
"close your eyes," you listened and tightly closed them. you felt the barrel of the gun leave your forehead. someone harshly pulled your free hand away from the wall you were against. "you're going to count very slowly to ten and then, you're going to walk out of here and pretend you never saw a thing, got it?" he asked. his breath was right next to your ear.
"y-yes."
"count," he let go of your hand and you could hear multiple footsteps run away from where you stood.
"one, two," you spoke quietly and sunk to the ground, your eyes still closed. "three, f-four, five, six," footsteps continued running down the block. "seven, eight, nine," you listened to the footsteps as they started disappearing. "ten." you opened your eyes and looked around, only to see a body about ten feet away from you. a pool of blood surrounded the man. "oh my god," you shuttered and stood up straight. you walked backwards out of the alley and onto the sidewalk.
"i said count slowly," you felt the barrel of a gun on the back of your head.
"i-i did. please! i promise i won't say anything!" you cried out and continued staring at the body in your view.
"hey! let's go!" you heard another voice shout from a distance.
the guy behind you laughed and you no longer felt the gun on your head, "looks like you get to live another day." you stood in front of the alley as footsteps started walking away, but then the footstep stops after a couple of seconds, "aren't you going to run away?" the guy asked you.
why is he still talking to me?
you continued to stand in front of the alley and tried to walk but you fell, still unable to comprehend everything that just occurred.
"hey, what's wrong with you?" you looked up and the guy who just held the gun to your head stood next to you. you looked straight into his brown eyes. "go home," he gestured with his head.
you didn't know what to say to him. "uh, y-yea." the guy sighed and held his hand out. you took it and stood up.
the guy turned you around so you would face him and held your arms, "just letting you know, you're going to go crazy thinking about that guy. he's a bad person anyways so don't think we killed someone just for fun."
"but you killed someone. y-you're making it seem like killing is okay," you said to him. the guy stopped holding you arms and looked at you.
"when you're in our line of business, it's normal," he said and then laughed, "i shouldn't even be talking to you about this. go home." he turned and started walking away from you.
"what are you in? a gang?" you asked. he stopped walking to look over his shoulder with a smirk.
"mafia," he spoke and continued to walk away from you.
after he disappeared from your view, you walked to your apartment with the snacks and drinks in your hand and entered the kitchen. you put the snacks away in the cabinets and the drinks in the fridge. then, you heard knocking at your front door.
it's ten pm. who wants to talk at ten pm?
you shook your head and ignored the knocking. you washed your hands in the sink and whoever kept knocking started banging on your front door.
it could be my landlord...
"i'm coming!" you spoke and dried your hands off. the knocking kept going. "i said i was coming. mr.kim, do you need something?" you unlocked the door and looked to see the guy from earlier. "what the— how'd you find me?" you quickly asked him.
"i said i was in the mafia, didn't i? we have resources," he smirked and held onto the door frame. "and i came you to make sure that you know that i'll be keeping tabs on you," he mentioned.
"oh," you responded. "so can you leave now?" you asked.
"why?" he asked you.
"so i can go watch something on tv and not think about the dead guy that you guys apparently killed?" you asked and turned to look at the clock that was next to you. "i can catch one of my favorites—" you turned your head but you were met with lips. the guy grabbed you by the waist and continued kissing you for a few seconds.
"there. you have something else to think about," he said and let go of you. then, the guy started walking away from your door. "the name's doyoung, if you're wondering," he randomly mentioned.
"so now you tell me your name?" you asked him. he turned around and started walking backwards.
"what's yours?" he asked and put his hands in his front pockets.
"hey, you said you'd be keeping tabs on me. i'm sure you'll find out what my name is," you responded and smiled at him.
he smiled back, "alrighty then. see ya later." he said and turned around. he walked around the corner and you no longer could hear footsteps.
then you closed the door and took a deep breath. "holy hell, he's cute," you said to yourself and walked into your room to jump into the bed. you laid down and realized that you weren't thinking of the dead guy, you were thinking of the guy who just kissed you.
