"what floor are you going to?" you asked the man who had stepped into the elevator with you.

"nine," he answered. you nodded and pressed the "nine" button and the "sixteen" button. "thanks," he said as the doors closed.

"no problem," you smiled at him and stood up straight again. you unlocked your phone and looked through your work emails.

suddenly, the elevator came to an abrupt stop, and the lights in the elevator turned off.

"huh?" you looked up from your phone.

"what happened? power outage?" the guy next you asked. you shrugged your shoulders and pressed the emergency call button, but none of the buttons worked.

"what are we supposed to do?" you asked in concern.

"i guess wait," the guy responded.

you looked outside the window in the elevator and noticed that almost all of the city was pitch black besides lights from cars and a few buildings that probably had their own generators.

"at least the sun will rise soon," the guys said to you and sat down the floor.

"yea," you sat down across from him.

"i'm doyoung," he introduced himself.

"y/n," both of you shook hands. "what department do you work in?"

"legal," he answered. "you?"

"i work in international business," you answered. "i was supposed to have a meeting with producers in canada, but i guess that'll have to be moved," you sighed.

"this early for a meeting? dang," doyoung replied and put his briefcase against one of the elevator walls.

"perks of the job," you sarcastically replied. "why are you here so early?" you asked him.

"i had the day off yesterday, so i wanted to get caught up of stuff before everyone else came in," he answered. "i'm surprised i've never seen you. i go up to the sixteenth floor for meetings too," he mentioned.

"well, my office is actually on the tenth floor but that meeting was on the sixteenth because i was meeting with other departments," you mentioned and followed with a sigh. "we'll probably going to have to make up a lot. i have so many meetings today with people all over the world," you lightly banged your head against the wall behind you since your whole day was basically messed up now due to the power outage and being stuck in the elevator.

"hey, could be worst. it could've been late at night and no one probably would've gotten you until morning," doyoung said to you and pulled a knee up to rest his arm on. "or you could've been all by yourself and have no one to talk to."

"yea," you imagined the different and possible scenarios. "or it could've been with people i don't like. but it's annoying, you know? i'm going to have to apologize and hope that no one gets upset."

"they'll understand, since this is a major power outage," doyoung said. you nodded your head and looked outside. "sky's turning blue."

"mhm, at least it won't be raining today," you spoke. then, you took your backpack off and pulled out your laptop. even though you couldn't access your email without internet, you could access your calendar and look at today's events. "i'm already missing a meeting. how long do you think this is going to take?" you asked him.

doyoung shrugged his shoulders. "hopefully not long." he checked his watch, "it's been a half hour already."

"really? already?" you looked at the time on your laptop and saw that is already a little over half an later since you have been stuck. "man, out of all days for a power outage," you sighed once again.

"hey, if we ever get out of here, do you want to grab a coffee?" he offered.

you smiled, "sure, that'd be nice, that is, if we ever get out of here. " both of you laughed, "i could use two coffees right now, actually."

"i could use some whiskey if we're gonna be stuck in here any longer," doyoung said and both of you laughed again. "wanna play cards? i have a pack."

"i can't do any work, so might as well," you answered.

doyoung took a pack of cards out from his briefcase and took the cards out of the box. he shuffled the cards, "what do you want to play?"

you shrugged your shoulders, "blackjack?" you asked.

"sure," he answered and dealt two cards for both of you, one flipped down and one flipped up.

both of you played for what seemed like an hour since the sun completely rose. as doyoung flipped a card over and the elevators suddenly opened.

"hello, sorry for the wait!" a worker spoke. doyoung quickly put the cards away while you grabbed your stuff and stood up. doyoung swiftly got out of the elevator and held out a hand to you. you took his hand and stepped down and out of the elevator. "the elevators will be back on later, so please take the stairs for the day. oh, and the internet and electricity is being fixed at the moment," the worker said and continued to help get others out.

"so, wanna go upstairs and grab a coffee in my office?" doyoung asked.

"yea, sure," you replied.
