Dan kept his hand on my thigh the whole journey there. And as much as I tried to ignore it, I couldn't. I just kept thinking about what he had said earlier about Jake, and oh my goodness, how right he was! I felt like I had to apologise for how I had previously acted, my thoughts overriding me as I began to open my mouth to speak.

"We're here." Dan mumbled in my ear, lighlty pressing his lips on my cheek before stepping out the door of the taxi.

I opened my own door and got out, my heels proving somewhat not comfortable as I walked out around the vehicle. I looked down at the ground, my eyebrows raising at the sight of: yes, a red velvet carpet set down on the ground and into the venue, for a soon to be the most overdone party I have ever been invited to.

It was typical Nina, her parents are filthy rich and of course had paid for just about everything. Our jobs don't pay this high. When I first got to know her, I wondered why she actually had, or wanted a job, but of course, her parents wanted her to know what the 'real world' was like. I rolled my eyes at the thought.

Dan and I approached two bouncers guarding the entrance, checking our ID as we stepped inside. The loud music pierced my ears as I looked up towards the ceiling which held a gigantic chandelier. Yes, a chandelier. Nina's parents had seriously gone overboard.

A young man in a suit walked up to the both of us, handing us a cocktail drink from a metal tray as he smiled and bowed his head. The soundtrack of M.O.N.E.Y by the 1975 played in my head as I looked around the room. This was surreal; like something you would see in movie. I was not at all expecting something this extravagant, and due to the look on Dan's face, I knew he was thinking the exact same thing.

"What a party!" I heard a recognisable voice shout behind me. Jake.

I flinched at the sound of his voice, hands on shoulders making me jump, Dan.

"We can go, if you want." He said quietly. I stared at him, looking him straight in the eyes. But no, I wasn't going to let Jake scare me.

I shook the feelings off, reassuring Dan as he lead me into the main party room, both of us to soon be greeted by dozens of Nina's guests.

My smile grew as one of my favourite songs began to play, Dan and I dancing, I know, me, Dan, dancing. I was having a lot more fun than I thought I would.

"Do you want a drink?" Dan shouted to me as he leant in for me to hear his voice.

I could barely hear him over the blasting music but I soon understood as he brought his hand up to his mouth in a drink glass motion, causing me to nod in agreement. I watched as he walked away, swaying his hips a little as he laughed and turned his head for me to see. I rolled my eyes, shaking my head and laughing.

"Violet!!" I heard someone yell, causing me to turn my body to the sound of the person's voice. Nina ran towards me, her arms reached out infront of her and when approaching me, wrapping them around my waist in an almost too tight embrace. As she leant back, I smelt the distinct strong scent of alcohol on her breath, indicating to me that she was drunk. It explained the hyperness.

"Great party Nina." I said.

"Thanks!" She exclaimed, suddenly hearing someone call her name elsewhere in the room. She aimlessly wandered off to follow the squealing voice.

I huffed, smiling a little. There were so many people at this party that she couldn't make her way around us all. I strolled over to another room which was a bit quieter, yet still full of quite a lot of people. My eyes spotted a round table in the corner of the room layered with a food buffet, which reminded me of the faint rumbling of my stomach. I walked over towards it, my lips pouting as my eyes scanned over the sandwiches and small bites. I grabbed a strawberry and began to put it in my mouth when suddenly the feeling of a pair of arms snaked around my waist, causing me to gasp in surprise.
