*2 weeks later*

Dear diary, today is the day when life becomes reality. When emotions suddenly have to be noticed and when games can no longer be played.

I took a pause, twirling the black ink pen around in my fingers before carrying on writing.

Today is the day that Jake comes home.

I shut my journal, wrapping the attached string around the cover and lacing the pen into the spine before walking downstairs. I strolled into the living room, slowly pulling away the curtain and staring outside at the passing cars.

Suddenly a loud knock at the front door surprised me, making me jump and take my hand away from the curtain. I cautiously looked through the window, seeing one side of my boyfriend, his eyes staring up above the door frame and his hands placed in his jean pockets. I heard him clear his throat before I shook my head, taking a quick glance in the mirror on the route to the door and putting strands of hair behind my ears.

The door was soon after opened, the lock clicking as I turned the handle. And then, our eyes met. I stood there silently, my hand holding on to the back of the door. My only choice of communication was intense eye contact, to which Jake awkwardly scratched the back of his head, laughing a little.

"You alright Vi?"

"I'm fine. You?" I blurted out.

"Glad to be back." He answered before entering my apartment, making me turn my body a little for him to step aside. I closed the door behind me as I watched him drop his huge rucksack on the wooden floor, huffing.

"How was Uni?" I asked, folding my arms over one another.

He puffed out extra air from his mouth, looking up at the ceiling before giving me an answer.

"Well, very b-"

"Kathy? Is she good?" I cut in spitefully, squinting my eyes at him as I walked a little closer, shrugging my shoulders.

"I told you. She's just a friend." He said, leaning his head towards me and raising his eyebrows.

"You're the one I want." He smiled, using his hand to stroke the side of my cheek. I flinched away, something like this was expected of course, but it doesn't mean that I wanted it to happen.

"Spare me the 'I miss you' card, Jake."

"What? I did miss y-"

"Oh please!" I leant back a little.

"What has gotten into you all of a sudden?" He exclaimed in shock, shaking his head from side to side.

"Oh I don't know. But I'm glad it has." I walked past him, making my way into the kitchen to show I wasn't interested in what he had to say.

Long fingers grabbed tightly on to my wrist, latching on, stopping me in my tracks.

"Get your hands off me." I snatched my arm back and rubbed my wrist as I scoffed, walking the opposite way to him.

"Look, I'm not with Kathy, if thats what you're annoyed abou-" He followed urgently.

I sighed, interrupting his speech.

"That's not the point Jake."

"Well what is it then?" His anger came through in his speech, I could see how frustrated I was making him feel and now it was showing.

"Don't you get it?"

"Get what? Explain!" He shouted, moving closer.

I groaned and threw my head back.
