I awoke to the noise of police car sirens, pulling the irritating sound through my ear drums and successfully awaking me. My body flinched in my seat as my knees knocked the bottom of my chin. I let out ounces of breath, eyes fully opening and scanning around at the outside.

Outside. I was outside, still sitting on the balcony chair, and it was freezing. The cold air had just hit me. I yanked the earphones out of my ears and threw them on my bed, still plugged in to my mobile phone. I then made my way into the bathroom.

Water was thrown on to my face in the sink as I grabbed a nearby towel, dabbing it over my cheeks and forehead before making my way back into the bedroom when I heard a knock at my door. I statuary stood, wondering for a moment before realising. It was Ashton.

"Violet?"

"Leave me alone." I spoke firmly, I was still annoyed with what he had said. Things like that don't just let go that easily.

One downside of not having a lock, the door opened moments later, my words not getting taken into consideration. I threw my body on to the clean sheets of my bed.

"Look, I don't even have to say sorry, because you know I mean it." Ashton softly said.

"But, I'm sorry." He continued.

I shook my head, rolling my eyes before closing them and burying my head in my pillow.

I heard Ashton sigh as he came to sit next to me on the bed, the feeling of the covers being pulled from underneath me.

After a few minutes of silence, the only noise heard was the fluttering of my eyelashes on my pillow. He suddenly began to speak; changing the subject.

"Check out what I got in the post today." He announced as I listened to the rattling of paper and the unfolding of some sort of envelope.

I moved my head, just a little, so that he was now in sight, my eyes adjusting as I saw him holding a black coloured new version of one of those polaroid cameras.

My body then decided to sit up, and my hands reached forward, taking it from him as he handed it to me. I still didn't make any eye contact, the only thing in focus was this possession. My smile was small as I turned the camera over and observed all the different parts and buttons.

"I know you've always wanted one."

"What?" I blurted out.

"Well, I'm not going to use it, am I?"

"You can't give it to me, if that's what your implying." I went on, now looking him directly in the eyes.

He nodded his head in small movements as he smiled and looked down, his mouth opening as if to say something. Before I could ask him why, he began to explain what was happening.

"I'm leaving."

I looked at him in a confused way before I shuffled my body closer to him to illustrate that I was listening, placing the camera on the bed sheets beside us.

My brother pulled his I-phone out of his pocket, holding it in the air and pursing his lips.

"I got a call last night..I have to move away again." He then placed it back to where it was previously.

With Ashton working all the time, at different places, each day, there is always a travelling oppurtunity, somewhere he's sent off to. It was always a different place every week.. Singapore, New York, Beijing. As far away from London as you would expect. And now.

"Violet, I'm moving to Amsterdam..the job is based there."

He looked up at me through his eyelashes, the hope could practically be seen behind his eyes. Hope for me not to lash out at him. I literally had no words, yes, my brother was a pain at times but this was massive.
