I sat at my desk and looked closely in the mirror as I straightened my hair.
"Just stay straight you little shit," I grunted to myself re straightening the one piece of hair that seemed to not want to co-operate with me right now.
The bedroom door opened as I turned around to see Billie entering casually as he sat on my bed. "What are you doing here?" I asked confused as I turned off and set the straighteners at my desk.
"I'm bored, why are you straightening your hair?"
"Because I'm supposed to be meeting Someone at two?" I pointed out questionably.
"You are?"
"Miles? I literally arranged this while you stood behind me last night."
"Yeah course," he murmured, "but I mean- I didn't know that was serious."
"Course it was, why wouldn't it be?"
"You're really going on a date with him?"
I let his question hang in the air for a second before deciding to answer. I nodded slowly.
"You hardly know him,"
"Yeah, that's why I'm going on a date with him Billie. Y'know... to know him more,"
He squinted over at me for a moment. "Do you like him?"
"In what way?"
"What way do you think Phee, I mean do you, do you like like him."
"Like like? What are we ten?"
"Well," he urged. "Do you?"
"Billie I," I paused before breathing out. "I don't know. Maybe I do maybe I don't. Why?"
"No reason," he shrugged. I stood up from the chair I was sat in as I ran my fingers through my supposedly straight hair.
"Do I look okay?" I asked him as I turned to him. He stood up so his face was level with mine as he looked me up and down slowly.
His eyes landed back on my face. Then I watched them scan over my hair as I realised he was smiling a little.
"Well?"
"No, you look terrible." He teased looking back at my eyes.
I smiled punching his arm gently, "Oh shut up,"
"Y'know I'm only playing." He replied, "You look great, you always do."
The moment went a little quiet as we smiled lightly to one another.
"Did you break up with Ella?"
"Not yet," he sat back down as I took a seat on my bed beside him. "I asked her why she never showed up, she said something came up."
"But she should have told you that instead of leaving you wondering where she was," I commented. Billie nodded agreeing.
"That's what I said to her, but then we got in a little argument and stopped texting after that. I think I'll break it off later on,"
"You don't seem too bothered?"
"Mike said to me the other day when we were walking back from somewhere I needed to stop acting to be like someone I wasn't. Like I don't drink or smoke and things like that. He said shit about if a girl can't accept what I'm really like there's no point in wasting time pretending to be someone I'm not." He shrugged honestly.
"He did?"
"He also said that my- I can't remember the word. I think it means mask or something, he said he learnt it from you-"
