Chapter Four - If Only You Knew

**JADE's POV**

RINNGGGG

Recess bell, the awaited bell finally rang and everyone stood up from their seats as the teacher went out of the room.

I have to say that I slept late last night because of homeworks and there's this thing that keeps on bothering me. But I don't know what it is, that's the problem.

Until now, I still haven't got the slightest clue of who Darren's ex is. Even how she looks like. For sure, it'll be a school hottie and soo not like me. When will he ever tell it?

I went out of the room, with my wallet on hand. I walked all the way to the cafeteria, expecting Ericka or even Ryan to show up but it seems that they don't want to be found.

Ever since Darren gave his request, things changed. Neither Ryan or Ericka approached me or even give me a simple beam. I don't know what Darren did, but I think he did something that's why they've been acting so. . . distant.

I bought a ham sandwich, paired with a glass of lemonade and searched for a table to sit. I found one near the window and I immediately took it before someone else does.

I opened the wrapper of the sandwich and began munching it with silence, excluding the noise that's filling the whole cafeteria.

This is the first time in years, I'm eating alone. Literally. I'm eating all by myself, without anyone or anything sitting beside or across me.

Where are they? I asked myself.

We never had a text message or even call with Ericka since yesterday. I don't know why. Also Ryan. I must talk to them before I'll be so depressed again .

I miss them. A lot.

Luckily, I saw Ericka with some girls walking nearby, heading to the food counter probably , and that made me do my move.

I stood up and yelled, "Ericka!" I tried once but she didn't seem to hear . "ERICKA!" I yelled once more and she finally looked at me.

But the look on her face doesn't seem to be happy.

I smiled and gestured her to come here, but then she just gave me a blank face and turned her attention back to the counter .

What?

I then saw Ryan sitting on a table all alone, eating his favorite French fries. That's always been his favorite since we were at elementary.

He looks glum.

Once he looked at my direction, I instantly shot him a smile and yelled, "Come here!"

But then he didn't reply and stood up instead, on his way out of the cafeteria.

What's wrong with the universe today?

This is going to be hard. What's really the reason as to why my bestfriends are acting so weird? If Darren is the reason, then he must run out of this school right now if he still want to see daylight.

What's the matter with them? I don't recall doing a thing to them in the past! Maybe because I'm getting snob? Wait no, I never been snob to them! Especially that they're my bestfriends!
