Chapter Eighteen

Avery's POV

"Lovely." My mother grinned at me.

I was getting my last fitting for my gown for the masquerade. Blue and black layers on the skirt. Small black laced flowers with silver diamonds, in an elegant design circled them. The gown a strapless heart shaped neckline hugged my figure. The skirt went out at my hips, making my torso appear longer.

My mask matched the colors of my dress. Diamonds outlined the inner of my eyes, going across the top to the outer point. Feathers blossomed up the right of the mask. Small velvet strings were placed to tie the mask around my head.

"Mom yours is beautiful." I smiled brightly at her.

Her dress was the color of my old nursery, baby pink. Strapless like mine but with a straight neckline. The skirt slanted out at her hips. Small flower designs in silver with gold in the center, scattered along the bodice. Going beautifully down the skirt.

Mothers mask was pink and silver like her dress. Swirls danced on her mask and silver lace along the edges. On the left of her mask, similar to a half moon shape pointed up. Feathers going up beside it as well.

"Thank you." She grinned.

Mom was on cloud nine starring at herself in the full length mirror in her gown. She sometimes acted like a teenager during these events. Even like my best friend in some cases. Happy to have her as my mother. She means the world to me, just as much as my father, brother, and rest of my family. I really do have the most loving and wonderful family. A knock on the door pulled us to give it attention.

"Who is it?" I called.

"Your father." Dad chuckled.

Mom gasped, "Don't come in!"

"Everything okay in there?" Concern filled my fathers voice.

"She's in her dress." I called.

I giggled while watching my mother frantically undress. You could hear my fathers laughter roar behind the closed door. She forced my father to agree they wouldn't see what each other was wearing to the masquerade.

She wanted to see if he could find her with hundreds of people around. I know what you're thinking. The mate bond will instantly guide them to each other. Well my mother is somehow going to make the bond invisible. She had said something along the lines she wants to see how true their love is.

It is cute but my mother is crazy to think my dad won't find her. They have the truest form of love in the world. They are soul mates, bless by the Goddess. Mom finally allowed my father to come in their room after she hide her things, and wore a robe.

"Avery you look beautiful." Dad looked at me with so much pride my heart warmed.

"Thank you daddy." I grinned.

Mom wrapped her arms around my fathers side. His arm instantly going over her shoulders as he pulled her to him.

His eyes soft, holding love and adoration at her, "They're growing up."

"Yes they are." Mom smiled.

"Guys please! Don't start that." I exclaimed, "You'll cry then I will cry."
