"Mr Schuester! I have an announcement. I have selected the perfect moving ballad for me and Finn to sing to launch our performance at sectionals." Rachel announced, totally full of herself, not even considering that someone else might get a look in.
"Me first," Mr Schue said, finally recognising that other talent in the room was being overshadowed, "two things, first: our competition at sectionals are our classic stool choirs, great voices, but they don't move! so if we're gonna beat them, we need to do what they can't. dance. which is why im featuring Brittany and Mike Chang's sweet moves in our performance!"
Katy was delighted for her two best friends. They were insanely talented yet they were always thrown to the back and forgotten about when they should be featured more often. Nobody in that room could dance like them if they tried, and they were the two nicest, most lovable people and so everyone, except a jealous Rachel was delighted that they were finally getting their moment to shine.
"Wait they're gonna dance in front of me while I sing me solo?" Rachel asked thoroughly displeased at the idea,
"you're not getting a solo for this competition Rachel." Mr Schue explained, surprising everyone, including Rachel herself, who was staring at him, mouth agape in shock.
"finally!" Mercedes exclaimed, convinced that she was next in line to the solo throne, "so what song do i get to sing?"
"I was thinking that the winners of our duets competition would take the leads!" Mr Schue grinned at Katy and Sam. Katy almost choked on the skittles that she and Sam were sneaking out of their backpacks.
"Fred and Daphne?!" Rachel outraged, pointing over at Katy and Sam in a fit of rage. "are you trying to throw this?!"
"Wow thanks Rach! best friend of the year goes to you!" Katy said, sarcastically, though slightly upset that no one in the room seemed to be actually happy for her after everything she'd done for them, every time she'd stood up for them, helped them, loved them when no one else would.
"Okay," Mr Schue said, trying to keep the peace, "I have talked the talk about everyone feeling special in here for over a year now but frankly, I haven't walked the walk. I mean we have got a lot of talent here and I'm gonna highlight it!" By now, Rachel was furious, urging Finn to agree with her.
"Look I'm all for pumping up the team, making everyone feel special, but that's for practice. You don't take the star quarterback out before the big game!" He said,
"Easy to say when you're the star quarterback." Tina retaliated, quite rightly,
"This isn't just about me, this is about the team!" Finn defended himself, subtly rolling his eyes.
"Oh you're such a hypocrite!" Santana sassed him,
Rachel jumped to her boyfriend's defense, "Ugh like you even know what that means!"
