"If you don't get the part I will riot!"
Katy was stood at her locker, finding her textbooks for the day when she was approached by Tina,
"Hey girl!" She smiled.
"Katy, I need to talk to you, it's Mike," Tina said, with a worried expression.
"Is he okay?" Katy asked immediately, worried for her best friend.
"No. He got an A minus." Tina exclaimed, with a sigh,
"What? That's amazing!" Katy beamed but was met with Tina's unimpressed expression.
"That's an Asian F!" She explained briefly,
"Holy crap, that's harsh." Katy gasped, thinking to herself how delighted she'd be if she got an A minus.
"Well his dad's hella pissed and he's all pouty and miserable." Tina sighed, upset, "and he won't listen to me, but just I know he needs to follow his dreams here."
"Definitely. He's an incredible dancer, and he was just saying to me the other week how amazing dance makes him feel." Katy agreed.
"Which is why I need you, he's not going to audition for the musical." Tina explained,
"No! We've worked so hard and he's gotten so incredible!" Katy gasped,
"I know, and as I've said he won't listen to me, but he might listen to you. Honestly Katy Kat, I think he needs his best friend right now, he will listen to you when he won't listen to anyone else."
"Of course. Mike's done so much for me, helping him follow his dreams is the least I can do." Katy nodded, enthusiastically.
"I'm glad we're on the same page." Tina smiled, linking her arm in Katy's as they headed off to art class together.☆
After her chat with Tina, Katy made her way to the dance studio in hopes of talking to Mike before he had to go to his tutor. She glanced inside the dance studio but Mike wasn't there. As she made her way to search for him, she caught a glimpse of his voice coming from the auditorium, she sighed in relief, slipping inside and standing in the wings to watch his audition, which he was originally going to miss for the tutor.
(song- cool, sang by Mike Chang)
Mike finished and Katy cheered loudest, catching Mike's attention immediately. He flashed her the widest smile and turned back towards Artie, Coach Beiste and Miss Pillsbury.
"Wow Chang, you must have worked really closely with my boys there. That was some really fancy footwork, I just hope you didn't waste too much of your time." Coach Beiste smiled sincerely.
"It's what I love to do, it's never going to be a waste of my time." Mike told them, firmly, making Katy smile, happily.
Mike ran off stage and pulled Katy into an excited hug.
"You were unreal Mike!" She yelled, beaming at him.
"That was amazing!" He sighed happily,
"You've got this in the bag! If you don't get the part I will riot!" Katy told him, completely serious,
"Thanks Katz." Mike laughed.
"But you're my best friend, you think I don't know that you're skipping your chemistry tutoring for this." She said, raising an eyebrow,
"I just couldn't miss it." Mike admitted,
"Well I'm glad. I was coming down here in hopes of talking some sense into that extremely overwhelmed head of yours." Katy smiled, "but I guess you came to it by yourself. I'm proud of you."
"I'm glad. Tina's right. This is my dream, I couldn't miss this audition." Mike agreed.
"Well good. Because you deserve to love your dream Mike! You're insanely talented and anyone who says otherwise is evidently out of their minds, yes even your dad." Katy said, "and ill help tutor you in any spare time you like, we'll get those grades back up to an Asian acceptable so your dad will realise how much dance truly means to you."
"Thanks Katy." Mike beamed, gratefully.
"You've always been there for me, I'd be a pretty crappy best friend if I wasn't always there for you."
