023- A SERPENT WITHIN THE MIDST

"Keep the pin, young lady. We will now start our training.", napabalikwas ako ng tayo as I shook my head to focus nang marinig ko ang sinabi ni Lord Ares. I kept the pin inside my pocket at inayos ang pagkakasuot ng headgear ko. I thought I was fine but my concentration was... missing.

I turned my gaze all-over the place. Somehow, we're standing in an open field, infront of a Greek pantheon---a temple, located on top of a hill. On the far east-side, down the hill dwelt the vast turquoise blue ocean which kinda reminded me of Eur's eyes. The huge waves were crashing on the shores made-up of shimmering white sand and surprisingly, I could still even smell the fresh ocean breeze from up here. Meanwhile, not too far towards the northern part of the place stood a small village, still visible from sight. Based on the architecture of the houses, it surely is from Ancient Greece.

"Welcome to Thrace. I can see that you find my birthplace rather, interesting.", napabaling ako kay god Ares nang magsalita ulit siya. He was observing my reaction the whole time.

"Don't let the serene and tranquil scenery of this place fool you, young lady. Thrace is a home of warriors. People who are bred for battle, as their deity before them... me.", he cockily added while grinning pero hindi ko siya pinansin. My thoughts are still bothering me. After a while of silence, he clicked his tongue and broke the ice.

"You are easily bothered over petty things that it makes it hard for you to restrain your emotions. You have no resolve at all.", I stopped at his sudden statement as it struck me like lightning. I didn't even flinch as I heard him let out a mocking laugh before continuing...

"You are weak, young lady. Very unworthy of your father's attention.", mas lalo akong natigilan sa narinig ko mula kay god Ares. My chest tightened as I clenched my fist. I can feel a surge of energy building-up deep within me. Bumilis ang paghinga ko.

"You are a disgrace to your mother. A powerful deity preceding us, the Olympians, having a useless spawn like you as her only daughter. Your existence will only be a burden to her.", sa pagpapatuloy niya, I felt my eyes flicker into pure black for a moment but I tried to control myself from doing-so. Mas lalo akong kinabahan. This is bad.

"See? We all know how unstable you are. Your sole existence is a threat. You cannot control both your good and evil-side unlike how your mother can easily control hers. Stay away from the semideuses. You will only bring harm upon them. They do not need you, young lady. I can assure you, time will come that those two opposite forces will converge deep inside of you given that you contain no resolve to control its power. With that, one of your sides will be condemned to go berserk and it will consume the whole of you.", I tried to shake the god Ares' statements off my mind but no matter how much I resist, I couldn't deny the fact that his words were beginning to haunt my thoughts.

"S-Stop.", my head hurts. My legs were trembling and my heart was racing. My breathing ragged as my eyecolor began shifting once again. Tinawanan lang ako ni god Ares.

"Too much power can lead to destruction, young lady. Let's see how long you'll be able to resist. There is too much darkness deep within you. You are born to cause war---no, you are born to cause chaos and... death.", his words were triggering the darkness within me that it was so hard to restrain myself. Halos mapasigaw ako sa sakit nang kung ano man ang gustong kumawala sa loob ko. I clenched my fists at napaluhod sa lupa. My head was burning.

"What are you... doing to me?", my voice became uneasy as I held the side of my head due to its successive and painful throbbing. Like it wants to explode.
