045- THE THIRD FRAGMENT
"So you're now official citizens of Arcadia huh?", we heard Arcane mock when we arrived at the training ground. Halos hindi ako makagalaw sa armor na pinasuot nila sakin.
"What's the deal with this skimpy armor? Are you trying to expose my soul or something?", I exclaimed as I tried to adjust the straps of the breastplate and skirt. Ang bastos naman tingnan ng armor na toh.
"You look good in it though.", Arcane complemented while constantly moving his eyebrows up and down. I just rolled my eyes at him.
"This is the traditional Arcadian armor. All of you will be needing it for the last part of the games, the Termination Part.", we gathered around the center of the training ground as we listened to Arcane's orientation about the Nemean Games.
"The Nemean Games consist of thirteen sections. These sections are divided into three parts: The Gymnic, The Equestrian, and The Termination.", he stopped and drew some sort of chart using his sword in the sands of the training ground.
"The games will be using mere strength and strategy. Therefore, applying our attributes will be prohibited and will immediately result to disqualification.", he warned before eyeing us one-by-one. Tumango lang kami.
"Expect that we'll be up against various competitors all over Ancient Greece. Warriors, gladiators, heroes. From the strongest, to the toughest of men alive.", natigilan ako sa parteng iyon kaya kinuha ko ang atensyon ni Arcane.
"Men? What about the women?", I curiously asked. Is there some sort of discrimination or something?
"Women aren't usually allowed to compete in certain parts of the games for being too weak to endure it---"
"That's discrimination.", I claimed as I cut him off. He nodded.
"Women in Ancient Greece had fewer rights in comparison to men. Until now, several regions still live up to that culture. They believed that women are part of the oikos: the household, led by the kyrios: the master, representing the men.", I gritted my teeth because of the gender inequality and discrimination. It's disgusting.
"That being said, the only portion of the games in which women are allowed to participate would be the Equestrian Part.", so gender discrimination was very evident since the ancient times huh? Buti nalang at nabawas-bawasan na ito ngayon.
"The first part of the games, The Gymnic is composed of nine sections. These will be...", Arcane trailed of as he illustrated another set of charts in the sand with his weapon.
"The Stadion, The Diaulos, The Hippios, The Dolichos, The Hoplitodromos, The Pyx, The Pankration, The Pale, and The Pentathlon."
"So, will the games be just like the Intramurals? Or the Olympics perhaps?", all of them stared at me because of what I said. Napakunot naman ang noo ni Arcane sa sinabi ko.
"I do not know of this Intramurals of yours but the Olympics however, then yes. The Nemean Games will be sort of like the Greek Olympic Games.", saad niya bago nagpatuloy.
So the sections will just contain a series of sporting events huh? Like track and field and whatsoever. I'm sure the guys can handle it.
"The second part of the games, the Equestrian will have three sections. These will be chariot races held inside a Hippodrome: an ancient Greek stadium for horse and chariot racing. The Greeks are fond of tradition. The three sections of the Equestrian Part will be the Tethrippon, the Synoris, and the Kélēs.", saad niya bago itinusok ang espada niya sa lupa. He then gestured at his armor.
