07I- AN EAR OF GRAIN IN SILENCE REAPED

AURAELLIA

Sykea, Cicila CIRCA 31 BCE

Its been about three days since I arrived in this time and there's really not much of a progress until now if I do say so myself.

"That is correct, young lady. This is Sykea, Cicila.", the old man answered me using the ancient tongue.

I mean, yes it's a given for semideuses like us to understand the language of Ancient Greece pero kumpara sa sitwasyon ko ngayon at doon sa kasalukuyan kung saan ako nanggaling, my current Ancient Greek speech feels more natural to me as if I've been speaking the language eversince the day I was born. But oh well, I'm sure that it was the gods who made this possible. Ngayon ay paunti-unti na rin akong nasasanay.

"I see.

So this is the Kingdom of Sykea in Ancient Cicilia, Anatolia huh? Sa pagkakaalam ko ay doon sa kasalukuyang panahon, this place is already known as the Republic of Turkey.

"It simply means that the bane of my mother's hiding somewhere here in the Southeastern region of Asia Minor.", I whispered to myself. It would've been better kung may dala manlang akong mapa rito, damn it. I'm not really a fan of the ancient geography kaya hindi ko ito nakabisado. Si Sev ang eksperto sa mga ganito.

Anyways, it's a bit odd though. I haven't heard any word from the townspeople about Gigantes or some sorts.

I'm seriously beginning to doubt if I'm really in the right place to find the bane of my mother after all.

And speaking of---I wonder who my mother's bane is? Wala pa rin kasi akong ideya hanggang ngayon. The only clue I have is---

"The Bane of Fourteen.", I trailed off as I started drifting into my thoughts once again.

His name; the fruit of autumn
Who shower fields dry spell

I really need to move now.

Curious. Does the bane of my mother bring drought perhaps? They did say that the Gigantes' attributes are supposed to be their rival god's weakness right? And why is he even called the fruit of autumn?

"Look over there! A shipwreck!"

"It's a... a galley from the ongoing war? How did it even manage to get here from the Ionian sea in that condition?"
