leaving it all behind
First Person POV ~ Naboo, 7-years old
I sighed as I made my way around Theed's market square. Mistress Delara was throwing a grand banquet tonight in celebration of her winnings at the Grand Casino yesterday, and I was sent out on a mission to find a few details needed for the hall. I had worked for Mistress Vermillion for years, and I knew exactly what she wanted me to get.
Soon enough, I found the vendor and paid him using the credits she gave me.
The fruits weren't very heavy, but there were a lot of them. My satchel couldn't fit all of them, so I found a creative way to hold the extra few. I placed them on the ground, focusing my energy on them, watching as they lifted into the air. I smiled as I brought them over toward me, keeping my hand outstretched.
As I made my way through the square, I noticed someone following me. I turned around, trying to spot the person.
Soon, I saw her. She was a young lady, but she looked very elegant. She smiled at me, walking over to where I was standing. I felt oddly comforted by her smile, so I didn't run away.
She gazed at me kindly before speaking.
"My name is Leia Organa. What's your name?" She asked calmly. She was very beautiful. Her chocolate-colored hair was styled into intricate braids, and she was wearing a long, light blue colored dress. "My name is y/n," I responded, reaching out to touch her dress. "I like your dress, it's very pretty," I mumbled.
"Thank you, y/n. I saw you lifting those fruits back there, and I wanted to talk to you." Leia eagerly explained to me. I nodded. "How long have you been able to do that?" She asked. Even though she was a complete stranger, I felt inclined to trust her. "
Ever since I could remember," I answered, lifting the fruit higher into the air as she watched. She was silent for a moment before speaking again. "I know someone who could help you learn how to use your special abilities. You would be cared for there, more than you would be by staying here." Leia continued. My brows furrowed.
"I can't just leave. I have to work here, it's my job." I explained. She nodded in understanding. "I can help you get away from here. I can take you somewhere you can use your abilities and learn more about them." She urged, her eyes looking deeply into mine.
I thought about it for a moment before dropping the floating fruits and instead reaching out to hold her hand. "Where are we going?" I asked. She seemed satisfied with my response, almost as if she were taken by surprise at how quickly I had made a decision. "You'll go to a temple and train with other children your age. Jedi Master Luke Skywalker will train you in the ways of the force, which is what your ability is called." Leia explained, standing up and leading me out the town square towards a ship parked in a nearby meadow.
As we walked, Leia told me more about the history of my ability, and more importantly, what I could learn to do with it.
I didn't own anything of my own besides my clothes, and I didn't feel the need to go back. I had nothing here.
I knew my parents were probably never coming back, and I had to move on.
I glanced over my shoulder one last time before boarding the ship, leaving my old life behind.
