In time, it will all make sense

Morning came peacefully on Naboo.
I took in a deep breath as the sunlight peeked through the raggedy gray curtains. The air was warm and comfortable, as it was year-round on Naboo. My feet delicately touched the chilled stone floor, causing me to shiver. I tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
Life on Naboo was filled with solitude; I appreciated the independence. I had friends, I had Dash, and I had my job. Everything that I needed. I didn't want it any other way, and I knew that I couldn't have it any other way. This was it.
I blinked away the swarm of thoughts, quietly making my way over to a small pile of clothes neatly tucked away in the corner of my room. The 'outfit of choice' today was a pale brown two-piece with a darker brown wrap. I pulled my nightgown over my head, and began getting ready for the day. I didn't have much of an option in terms of fashion, as I was on a somewhat limited budget.
And this was how my life had gone the past decade or so. Naboo was and is my home.
I stood up from tying my brown boots, walking over to my small makeshift kitchen. I grabbed a basket of colorful Jogan berries, along with a flask of Lyme rose juice. If I was lucky, breakfast would feature a pastry from one of the cantinas in town.
As I ate, I gazed out of the window. The steady morning breeze flowing through my hair. Flowering meadows went on for miles, the vibrant colors glittering in the daybreak. On the horizon, I could spot an extensive lake, one I had enjoyed playing in when I was younger. My memory hadn't gone back very far from that point, as does it with everyone.
I chose to occupy myself with work.
Sometimes I liked to think about what happened when I was younger, the parts that I couldn't remember. I shook off my pointless thoughts and made my way out of the kitchen as I slung my leather satchel over my shoulder.
Off I went to the city.
As I pushed open the large metal door of Naomi Soutta's cantina, the somewhat quiet chatter of an assortment of customers filling my ears. It was such a familiar and soothing sound. I hummed quietly to myself as I began getting ready for the beginning of my shift.
The cantina was now reasonably full, and soon the orders started coming in at a rapid pace.
Today was fairly busy, like most days in the cantina. People (and creatures) came, drank like the cups were bottomless, then left.
Several hours later, I began cleaning up, satisfied with the amount of money that I had earned that day. Customers were generally friendly to me, and I got to hear intriguing tales about their ventures across the galaxy.
I've always wanted to travel. I'd never left the atmosphere of Naboo, and I yearned to see planets like Bora Via & Aquilae. I knew there were more planets than I could count, and it felt unfair that I was confined to just one.
"How's the work treatin' ya today, y/n?" I heard from behind me. My lips curved into a grin as I gently placed down the shot glass I was cleaning.
I turned around, my smile growing larger as I spotted him. Familiar blue eyes and a lopsided grin that I could recognize miles away. "Dash! What're you doing here?" I whispered cheerfully, glancing around as I rushed over to where he stood on the other side of the counter. He shrugged, placing his hands on the bar.
"Isn't it obvious?" He replied, causing me to smile. "I came for the hard liquor." I smacked his shoulder, rolling my eyes.
"...we're here too!" I glanced over, seeing Luna, Kass, and Dice tailing behind Dash. I waved to them, immediately forgetting about the stress of my long shift. "What're you guys doing here? Don't you have work to do?" I asked, leaning on the side of the bar as they sat down.
Dice shrugged, playing with an empty glass on the counter. "I already have my check for this week. I won it. Yesterday. At the casino." He spoke proudly, which didn't surprise any of us. He had earned the nickname 'dice' after we witnessed what a brilliant Sabacc player he was. All of his bets seemed to win, despite the worst odds.
Kass snickered from beside him, rolling her eyes, "Yeah, I'm sure you didn't cheat at all." Dice appeared insulted, placing a hand on his chest as if he was in shock.
"You're just jealous." He retorted. Kass was a bartender too, but she worked at the infamous casino that always seemed to be loading Dice with scratch.
Luna was the quietest of the group and by far the most observant. She was fond of Dice, and she often looked up to him, but even she could admit that he was often very immature. She was his sister, but somehow she was the most patient with him. Nothing ever went over her head, and she was always willing to follow the group into whatever danger they had put themselves into that day.
I smiled at her fondly, sliding over her favorite drink, a coconut rum. She thanked me, taking a few small sips. Kass and Dice both stopped their bickering immediately, staring at the drink with jealousy. "How come she gets a drink?" Kass exclaimed, looking offended. I shrugged, wiping a towel across the surface of the bartop.
"She's not acting like a child. Pack it up. It doesn't matter how Dice gets his money, as long as he gets it. "
Dice smiled broadly at my compliment, sending a wink my way. He leaned on the bar-top in a flirtatious way, raising his eyebrows. "I could spoil you, baby girl." I laughed loudly, hitting him with the rag as I rolled my eyes.
Kass snickered, pinching Dice on the bicep, causing him to shriek in a high-pitched tone.
Dash smirked, leaning closer to me on the bar. "Hey, I'm not being immature. What do I get?" He asked. I rolled my eyes playfully, pulling him in for a quick peck on the lips. "Fair."
"Save it for later." Dice spoke, fluffing Dash's hair. Dash yelped, ruffling Dice's hair in retort. "See you 'round, l/n." Kass called as she pushed Dash and Dice out of the bar, softly grabbing ahold of Luna's hand. I waved goodbye, but the smile lingered on my face for the rest of the night.
As I trudged back home, the golden rays of the sunset came into view. The evening was my favorite time of day on Naboo, because of the sunset.
As always, something felt missing.
