I huffed, restlessly peering out of the cockpit glass of my x-wing. Everyone around me was in position, waiting to leave when ordered. I glanced over to see Rey, who was in the x-wing next to me. I gave her a brisk nod, pointing with two closed fingers out to the atmosphere as I stared ahead. She nodded back.
"Whenever you're ready, Connix." Rey spoke into the comms, her voice muffled slightly through the worn speakers.
I turned my head to the left, seeing Kiaran turn on his jet's engine, glancing over at me with a smile and a peace sign. I laughed through a shaky body, causing the sound to become shrill.
I was terrified.
"Mission is a go. Commence liftoff and stay close to the fleet." A coarse voice announced over the comms. I took in a deep breath, pushing the lever forward. The ship gave a little jolt before ascending into the air, swiftly making its way above the trees in a matter of seconds.
Me and Rey were leading, glancing over our shoulders as we watched the rest of the fleet follow. "Entering hyperspace. Three...two...one...now." Rey's voice stated through the comms. I promptly pushed the hyper-button, blue and white encasing the atmosphere outside of our ships.
I was practically trembling in anxiety, thinking about having to battle Palpatine, and possibly Ben. It was only a few moments later when we arrived, causing my heart rate to pick up. There were Star Destroyers, everywhere.
As far as the eye could see.
Lightning struck nearby, emitting a loud echoing crack. "Fighters, enter pursuit. Find the beacon, and destroy it." My eyes widened as the destroyers began to rise, coming alive.
Let's go. I heard Rey speak quickly through the force. I didn't say anything in return, following her ship down to an odd structure on the ground. I gingerly landed the x-wing on the uneven surface, immediately taking off my helmet as I climbed out of the ship.
I glanced over at Rey as soon as my feet touched the ground, igniting my saber. My grip was strong around the hilt as I prepared myself for whatever was to come next.
Our mutual gaze was interrupted by the sound of the destroyers shooting at the fleet. "Gods speed, fighters." I whispered, watching as our fleet parted from their formation, trying to locate the beacon. I turned back to Rey, who unhooked her lightsaber from her belt.
Luke's saber.
She nodded towards me sternly, taking in a deep breath as we ran into the strange structure, lightning resounding around us.
Eventually, we made it to a somewhat lowered square-shaped structure. Rey looked around quizzically, glancing over her shoulder.
I carefully stepped onto it, then proceeded to put all of my weight on it. I gasped as it started moving downward, alarmed by the abrupt movement. Rey hurriedly jumped onto it, turning her lightsaber on. The blue color shone brightly into the dark place, illuminating the tall statues that outlined the pathway.
I followed closely, twirling my lightsaber around loosely.
Strikes of lightning nearby freaked me out, but that was the least of my concerns at the moment. I brushed a strand of my hair behind my ear, getting a better look at the place. It didn't look any different from when I saw it in my visions, and that's what scared me.
"Rey," I began, only to be hushed.
The lift stopped on the ground with a thud, rocking us slightly as we stepped off it. We cautiously wandered through the seemingly deserted hall, our minds clouded with thoughts and adrenaline. A rather large crack on the ground lit up below us, almost causing me to trip. As we rounded the corner, and I could feel my hands starting to shake as I grasped my saber even tighter.
