21st of December

At my feet little Sebastian Lloyd plays with his toy cars, racing them around a small garage that Beth bought him when he turned 7, Sebastian has his mum's blue eyes but Matt's (so I suppose his father's) dark hair, Beth's hair is light brown and curly and she passed that down to the adorable 3 year old Jasmine Lloyd, she sits on my lap playing with a robot and a Barbie doll. The lights from their small Christmas tree make the room feel festive and homely.

"-No Mr robot, you cannot borrow my lipstick!" Jasmine says, making the baby doll move to the robot as she interacts them. I chuckle and I look up to Matt who stands in his leather jacket, resting on the doorframe.

The Lloyds live above a kebab shop in the high street, it's not much, but to the four of them I can tell it means everything.

Matt has a deep look of admiration in his eyes as he watches his younger siblings, he catches my eyes and I smile at how his eyes have lit up just by seeing three of the most important people to him. He clears his throat and goes a little bit red at how I have caught him going against his 'popular player' image and I laugh again.

Beth grins at Matt as he looks to her, she appears in the doorway to the kitchen in a festive apron, her light hair in a messy bun and her hands on her hips.

"Hazel your brother called, he wants you to meet him at the shopping centre ASAP"

"Stop trying to be cool mum" Matt sighs, smiling gently at her as she rolls her eyes.

"I'm down with the kids me! Hip, stylish and cool!"

Sebastian looks up to his mother and says with a deadpanned expression: "no you're not mummy"

We all laugh again and I pick up Jasmine, and put her down on the sofa, she surprises me by wrapping her tiny arms around my neck, and saying goodbye in her high pitched, girly voice.

I wave to Sebastian and Beth gives me a hug, thanking me for coming round and wishing me a happy Christmas as it is in 4 days.

Matt and I leave though the door, my handbag swings on my shoulder as I step carefully down the metal steps to where the kebab shop is, the wind is icy on my face and it blows my hair back. Matt helps me off of the last step and we walk over to his small car that is parked beside the owner of the kebab shop's one.

We pass the swimming pool and my stomach does a leap of guilt as I stare at it, the car park is almost empty, a few cars and a-

A red scooter.

I blink, not quite believing it, I squint my eyes and I suddenly realise that Matt is giving me a weird look from the corner of my eye.

I turn back quickly to look at him, his hands steer the steering wheel, one of his eyebrows are raised at me, and he looks at me quickly and then fixes his eyes back on the road.
