I stared at the scenery in front of me in awe.

We were at a waterfall that wasn't too far from home and it was beautiful at night with the moon and stars making it glisten.

"Wow" I said still staring at it.

"I know, I found it the first day I got here... Needed a place to think and bam, here it is" Shane said shrugging and plopped down in the sand, I sat down beside him and continued to stare at the view.

"Why did you bring me here?" I asked still not looking at him.

"Because you're my best friend and I wanted to share this with you" he said smiling at me.

My heart fluttered and I smiled back.

"Let's set up the picnic" Shane said getting up and I got up too confused.

"Picnic?" I asked.

"Yeah, I have everything in the car" he said walking towards it and I followed him to help.

After we set up the picnic and be brought out a basket with food he told me to wait here and he went for something else.

I saw Shane come from behind his car with a guitar in his hands and I gasped.

I haven't played the guitar in so long.

"I decided to be the entertainment for our da-picnic" he said blushing.

He sat down and began to play a familiar tune on it.

Wow, he could play the piano and the guitar plus sing...how talented was this dude?

He began to sing along with the notes and I soon got lost in the sound of his voice.

When he finished singing he handed the guitar to me.

"Your turn" he said winking at me.

I laughed and mentally chose a song.

This I promise you by NSYNC, my favourite.

"When the visions around you
Bring tears to your eyes
And all that surrounds you
Are secrets and lies
I'll be your strength
I'll give you hope
Keeping your faith when it's gone
The one you should call
Was standing there all along."

I took a deep breath before continuing.

"And I will take you in my arms and hold you right where you belong,
Till the day my life is through
This I promise you,
This I promise you"

I sang the rest of the song lost in my own world strumming the cords of the guitar gracefully enjoying every moment.

I didn't realize when Shane moved to sit beside me and started to sing with me.

I just knew that I heard two beautiful voices blended together in the night under the silver moon.

"Arghh! I can't take this!" I shouted slamming my fists on the table.

My essay was due in an hour and I've gotten nowhere but one paragraph.

I looked up to see Julia looking at me like I was crazy while she read her Shakespeare book.

Oh yes, her play was next week.

I can't believe its been a month into school already.

I tried to focus on my paper but I kept looking at all the people walking in and out of the library.

It was an hour before school, Julia came to pick me up and we decided to chill here till school started.

I looked around once again and saw Shane talking to a guy about a book.

He was wearing back jeans and a black shirt that hugged his muscles.

The memories came flooding back of all the times we spent together and I found inspiration to finish my essay which was about him.

I wonder what he wrote about me.

I finished my essay just as the bell rang and smiled in triumph.

I had English first so it was a good thing that I finished the essay.

Julia and I packed our stuff and began to walk to class.

We took our seats at the back and waited for Mrs. Henley to come.

I saw Shane walk into the class talking with a girl and I felt a pang in my chest.

Huh?

I looked away ignoring the feeling because I knew he wouldn't just talk to Julia and I for long.

He's been here for a month and he was hot...he's bound to attract girls and make friend's easily.

I push those thoughts aside as the teacher came in and immediately asked for the essays.

I handed mine in and glanced at Shane to see him handing in his as well.

He smiled at me and returned to his seat and resumed his conversation with the girl.

Why did I feel this way?

I'm not jealous, that's impossible.

Right?
