Chapter 11

I was at my locker taking out my books for my first class.

Other than Saturday my weekend was pretty uneventful.

Sunday was family day so we went to church then ate dinner and watched movies together.

It was alright I guess.

I slammed my locker shut and screamed when I saw someone leaning against it staring at me.

Everyone in the hall turned to look at me then went their own way.

"Y-you scared me" I said clutching my heart and releasing a breath.

"Sorry" he said giving me a sheepish smile.

"What are you doing here Shane?" I asked gesturing to my locker.

He rubbed the back of his neck.

"I just wanted to see if you were okay" he shrugged.

Just then Julia came skipping down the corridor.

She stopped when she noticed Shane at my locker and had a confused look on, then a huge grin spread across her face.

Oh God.

"Hey guyssss" she drawled eyeing us.

"Hi Juli" I said, "you're late today"

"Yeah, had some things to do before" she waved it off.

"What are you doing here Shane?" She asked grinning at him.

Not suspicious at all.

"Um- I-I was just checking up on Shana" he blushed.

Damn my name sounded so good coming from his mouth.

"Ohh you were" she said winking at me.

I groaned.

"Let's get to Mrs. Henley's class" I said dragging them both in the direction of the class.

And I couldn't deny the fact that I felt a spark when I grabbed Shane's hand.

Ugh.

"....and that is everything that should be in your essay" Mrs Henley said finishing up her lesson on essay writing.

I felt a nudge and looked over at Julia.

She gestured with her hands and whispered.

"He's staring at you"

"Who?" I said looking around.

"Don't look" she slapped me.

"Ow! What was that for?" I whined.

"Don't look, its Shane" she said gesturing to him subtly.

I discretely glance at him and he was indeed staring at me.

Huh.

"...due in a month" Mr's Henley finished and I realized that I missed most of what she said.

I looked at Julia and noticed the confused look on her face too.

"What's due in a month?" Julia asked the girl beside her.

Brianna, I think.

"We are to write an essay on someone in the class, how they are or how you think they are, what they are really like, something interesting about them and last something about them that motivates you" she explained while Mrs Henley went for her register to start picking the names of the pairs.

"I will assign you your partner or 'observer' and remember only a month to complete"

She started to call names and students started to grumble around the classroom.

"Julia Dean and Jake Salmon" she said and Julia squealed.

"He's so cute" she whispered.

I laughed, of course.

"Fantasia Bryan and Derek Bent"

"Brianna Cathy and Zayn Ryder"

"Shana Bentley and Shane Larry"

Wait.

What?

Who?

I must be hearing wrong.

She continued to call names while I was in a daze.

Was this real?

I saw Shane stand from his seat and walk over to me.

"Hey partner" he smiled his dimpled smile.

This was definitely real.

"You guys are like destined to be" Julia said grinning from ear to ear.

"Shut up" I told her to stop her teasing.

I don't think anyone was happy about my pairing more than Julia, she was extremely happy.

"Wow, I love your positive energy" she said and I cracked a smile, but it fell as soon as it came.

"But this means I'll have to get to know him" I groaned.

"That's not such a bad thing" she said shrugging, "at least you get to get close to your future hubby" she smirked and I pushed her laughing.

"Nothing like that is going to happen" I confirmed.

"We'll see" she smirked and turned to the front just as our history teacher walked in.

That isn't going to happen.

Right?
