I strummed the last note on the guitar while I closed my eyes to reminisce on the lyrics.

"That was brilliant" I heard a voice say and my eyes immediately snapped open.

I locked eyes with Shane's brown ones and mumbled a thanks.

His black hair fell over his forehead while he grabbed a chair and sat in front of me.

"Um, I kinda have a class here now, everyone will be here in a few minutes" I said arching a brow at him wondering why he was here.

"Yeah, I know....I'm in this class too" he said sheepishly and I swear I felt my mouth on the floor.

Why?!

"Oh" is all I could say while I recovered from the shock.

"You play the guitar very well" he commented and my eyes trailed over the guitar, a small smile on my face.

"Thanks" I said.

Before he could say anything else the door burst open and Mrs. Collins walked in with the rest of the class behind her.

"Okay!" She clapped her hands, "let's get started."

"La la la la la la la la la" Cristie a girl in my class sang auditioning for the contest a month away. It was for music students only.

"Bravo! Miss Cristie, you've gained your spot" Mrs. Collins praised.

Christie smiled and walked away from the piano.

"Next, Shana Bentley" Mrs. Collins called my name and I rose already singing my audition song in my head.

I walked up to the guitar and picked it up.

I took a stool from behind the piano and held the guitar firmly.

I took a deep breath.

"They said you wouldn't make it so fa-ar-ar,
And ever since they've said it it's been hard,
But never mind the nights you had to cry,
Cause you had never let it go inside,
You worked real hard and you know exactly what you want
And need, so believe
That you can never give up
You can reach your goal
Just talk to your soul and say..." I sang the song by Yolanda Adams.

I got lost in the music forgetting that everyone was there until I finally ended.

I got claps from around the room and Mrs. Collins stood up clapping with tears on her face.

I smiled at everyone and made my way back to my seat.

"That was excellent Shana, just....beautiful" she said and just by the look in her eyes I knew I got in.

"Next, Shane Larry" she said and my eyes widened as I looked at Shane.

He got up and went up to the piano.

He took his seat and began to move his hand on the keys while he sang.

He sounded so beautiful that I couldn't help but stare.

"And then the day bleeds into nightfall
And you're not here to get me through it all
I let my guard down
And then you pull the rug
I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved." He sang the song by Lewis Capaldi and I fell so in love with his voice at that moment.

Only one word came to mind:wow

This competition was gonna be hard.

"I'm home!" I called while I burst through the front door if my house.

It was a two story house that was perfect for a family of four.

The living area was decorated with flowers and a grey couch sat in the centre with a flat screen TV in front of it.

"In the kitchen!" I heard mom shout and I dropped my bag on the couch and headed for the kitchen.

"Mmmm, that smells good mom" I said going up to her and giving her a peck on the cheek.

"Thanks hunny, dinner will be ready in 10" she said pecking me back.

I smiled at her and left the kitchen.

I grabbed my bag and headed for my room.

Once inside I took a shower and dived into my warm bed.

Today was so long...

And I'm so hungry.
