I was at my locker after a long weekend and to say I was glad to be back would be a lie.
We got notes in English this morning to fill the whole book and kill our hands.
Then we got a pop quiz in history that I was so not ready for.
I had free period now so I was closing my locker to walk to the cafeteria where I would meet Julia.
I saw Dylan jogging up to me and I groaned mentally.
"Hey, Shana" he said grinning at me.
"Hi Dylan" I said looking at him.
He looked like he was up to something.
"How is your morning?" He asked looking all over my face.
"It was crap" I said shrugging.
"So wanna go out Saturday again?" He asked suddenly.
Huh?
Did I hear him right?
"Uh- I have plans" I lied through my teeth.
I can't go through another one of his 'dates' again.
I tested my theory and turned out I had no feelings whatsoever for Dylan.
"That's fine, the other one maybe?" He asked again.
I was getting annoyed.
I stopped in my tracks.
"Look Dylan, I don't mean to be harsh or anything but I'm not into you like that" I said in one breath and waited for his reaction.
His face turned from Confusion to realization to hurt.
"Oh" he said and I felt bad.
"I do like you but as a friend... Nothing more" I said trying to heal his wound.
Seems I was digging it deeper.
"I understand" he said and looked at me and smiled.
"I think I have an idea who you do like" he said acting casually like what happened a second ago didn't happen.
I was confused.
"Who?" I asked genuinely wanting to know who I liked.
"Shane" he said grinning.
Shane?
No way.
I didn't like him
"What are you saying? Shane is my best friend" I said shaking my head.
"I really like you Shana but after your confession that you weren't interested in me I put all the pieces together" he smirked.
"What?"
"You may not like him yet, but he surely likes you" he said then draped his arm around my shoulder.
"I don't feel bad for your confession, I knew I had no chance but wanted to try anyway but now I'm over it...friends?" He said stretching out his hand for me to take.
That was quick.
"Friends" I said taking his hand and smiling.

"Really?" Julia said surprised when I told her of the events that took place before I got here.
"Yeah" I breathed.
"That's crazy" she said smirking obviously at the part where Dylan said Shane liked me.
"Don't get any ideas into that head of yours" I said narrowing my eyes at her.
"So I wasn't the only one who noticed" she said squealing.
I really didn't miss that.
"Noticed what?" I asked.
"His subtle glances to you, how he hung to your every word when you spoke or how his face lit up when you're around..." She said grinning.
I stared at her.
"Huh?" I asked stupidly.
"He likes you!" She squealed.
"No he doesn't, hush up" I said trying to calm her down.
"I so ship you guys" she said and I face palmed myself.
This girl.
"Hello ladies" I heard a voice say and looked up to see Shane looking down at us.
Great.
Could this get any more awkward?
"Hi Shane, how're you doing? Had any crushes lately?" Julia asked and I face palmed again.
It just got a little more awkward.
Ugh.
