"Hello?" I answered my phone while I was walking into the kitchen.
"Hey Bestie" he breathed and my heart stopped.
"Shane?" I asked not sure.
"Yeah, it's me...so wanna hang out today seeing as it is a Saturday and all?" He asked sounding hopeful.
My heart dropped to the bottom of my stomach swelling with disappointment.
I really wanted to.
"I-I can't" I said feeling more disappointed.
"Why not?" He asked confused.
"I promised to help out Drew, my brother, today and I have an engagement after" I said.
Engagement my ass.
I just couldn't tell him about the date with Dylan.
I don't know why, he said himself that we were best friends so I could talk to him but I was still hesitant.
It's not like he has feelings for you and would feel bad...geesh woman.
"Okay, maybe tomorrow then?" He asked and I perked up.
"Yes! Uh- I mean...tomorrow it is" I said smiling sheepishly to myself.
"Great, see you then" I heard him laugh at my stuttering.
I hanged up the phone with a giant smile on my face.
What's wrong with me?

"I'll beat your ass again like I did the other twenty times" Julia gloated and proceeded to 'beat my ass' at the video game we were currently playing in her room.
"No fair! You know you're good, you could at least give me a chance" I complained frowning.
"A loser is a loser" she said sticking her tongue out at me.
"Whatever, I'm hungry" I said laughing and walking out of her room.
On the way down I bumped in Julia's little sister Zaya, she was a cute little eight year old that I absolutely adored.
"Shana!" She shouted when she saw me and basically dived into my arms.
"Hey Zay" I said kissing her on the cheek. She just giggled and hugged me.
"I missed you, why didn't you come over often?" She asked.
"School was taking most of my time sweety but I promise I'll come more often to visit my princess" I said patting her head.
"Okay" she said giving me a smile then sprinted down the corridor to her room.
I looked at my watch and saw that it was almost time to start getting Julia ready for her surprise date.
I grabbed some snacks and soda and took them all back to Julia's room ready to put my plan into action.
Drew owes me big time.
"I'm so bored Juli, I wanna go out" I said putting a chip into my mouth.
"Let's go to the mall then" she said not taking her eyes of the screen focusing on the game she was playing.
"The mall's boring, I heard about this party just a few blocks from my house... Wanna crash?" I asked really hoping she would say yes.
"Sure, why not?" She said pausing her game.
"Great!" I said jumping up going to her closet.
I picked out the outfit she bought the other day for her to wear grinning at it evilly then turned to look at Julia with an innocent smile.
"Wait...don't you have that date with Dylan?" She asked confused.
Shit.
Think!
"Um...we rescheduled" I said looking away.
"Okay" she said and the dressing up and makeover began.

"Why do we have to stop at your house again?" Julia asked annoyed that we couldn't go straight to the party.
"I left my key, what if we leave late and I get locked out?" I asked.
"You could stay with me" she suggested.
"Nah, I prefer my bed" I said winking at her.
"Okay, just hurry already!" She shouted laughing.
"Can you follow me? I don't want to leave you sitting out here alone if I take long" I said getting out of the car when she stopped in front of my house.
"Sure" she said parking and got out as well.
We walked up to the door and I couldn't keep the smile off my face.
"Why are you smiling? You're creeping me out" Julia said turning the handle on the door.
As we entered the house was quiet.
Mom and Dad were at work because they got an emergency call.
I led Julia to the bottom of the stairs and turned to the door beside it.
"Could you check if it's in that room for me? I've been awfully clumsy lately I don't remember where I last had them" I said trying to suppress my grin.
"Sure" Julia said looking at me like I was crazy.
She opened the door and was immediately awed by the sight in front of her.
"Julia" I heard Drew say and she turned to him gasping taking in his suit and the bouquet of roses in his hand.
He cleaned up well.
I walked towards the food on the table and uncovered them.
"S-shana?" I turned around to see the surprised look on her face and smiled.
"Have a nice date Juli" I said leaving, no longer wanting to impose.
I hope she liked it.
I went upstairs and began to throw clothes on my bed.
I texted Dylan my address.
Time for my date.
