You're an ordinary dude with abilities that nobody has ever heard of. You work at Cat Co. with James, Winn, and your crush, Kara Danvers. One day, you discover that you're not exactly as ordinary as you thought, and thus the path to self-discovery m...
(Y/n)'s POV I woke with a start. I looked around to see that I was in a forest clearing. The ground was blanketed with snow, and the trees had red leaves on them.

(Like this except the ground is covered in snow. This is the forest of Forever Fall, from RWBY.)
"Where am I?" I asked aloud. My voice echoed, like I was everywhere. What was this place? I stood up. "Hello?" I called. The echo came again. This time I got a response. "Hello. Welcome back, Jörvintir." Who was that? My name was (Y/n). I looked all around. I couldn't see anyone. "You are in your mindscape, young one. A place you can retreat to. A place of solace. A place to ponder. And a place to find your true self, and to pick up and put together the pieces of your...tragic past and lineage."
My...lineage? "What...am I? I thought I was human, and then that man...that man called me 'The Son Of Aegir' he also called me 'Jötnar'. What exactly is going on here?" My words echoed once again. It was silent for a moment before the voice spoke again. "You, my child, are a Jötn. Your father's name is indeed Aegir. You are a part of the Jötnar tribe, or was anyway. You are a Friör Jötn, to be specific."
The words that he spoke seemed familiar. Like I'd heard them long ago. They had a ring of...familiarity. I noticed something. "Why is my body not freaking out anymore? Is...is it over?" He laughed. It was calm, and reassuring. "You are not combating with your true nature, because you are not in your physical body, so to speak."
"Here in your mindscape, you are free of your physical vessel. The things that you do here are quite impossible to achieve in your physical body, but... I suppose with enough practice, you could." This was a lot to take in. "So...I'm in my body, but not? And...I have 'powers' here?" He seemed silent in thought. "Yes. That simplifies it." Oh. Okay, well..."Can you tell what the difference is between a Jötn, and a Friör Jötn?"
A few moments later, my vision shifted. I was...somewhere else. I'm not exactly sure where I was. In front of me stood three men. One emanated heat, another cold, and the third...nothing. "Long ago the three branches of Jötn lived in harmony, for they had embraced their elemental differences. But soon, with too many quarrels to keep peace, they divided."
"The Eldur Jötn, were Jötnar with an affinity for fire and heat. They made their home in the realm of Muspelheim, the realm of fire. The Friör Jötn, were Jötnar with an affinity for Ice and the cold. They made their home in the realm of Jötunheim. The third Jötunkind, were...without an element. They were forced out and casted away, and became no more."
As I listened, the scenes changed. The fire giants were aggressive people who were quick to anger. They were harsh and unforgiving. When the giants without an element asked to reside with them in Muspelheim, they turned them away, telling them that they were not fit to walk among their people.
The ice giants were—I'll admit—condescending. They were scholars. They were skilled in most things they did. They were passionate, and folk of reason. They thought they were the most intelligent of the three giant kind. But, they were kind enough to offer a home to the giants without an element. But, they declined, because their realm was too cold.
The giants that were without a realm to call their own, came to earth. But, sadly they were killed off. By powerful beings that like to use...lightning? Thunder?
"The Jötn without an element would have survived, but they were hunted by the Aesir, gods that were capable of unspeakable acts of cruelty. The Aesir were the most known race of gods that were vile and evil." I felt guilt and anguish. "What....what is this feeling?" The feeling subsided. "Apologies. I forgot that you were were more attuned in your mindscape." Attuned? "What do you mean 'Attuned'? Is there...something you're not telling me?"
Wait. Now that I think about it...."Who are you? What's your name?" I felt overwhelmed by...pride? What was I proud of? "I, my child am Thamür, one of the greatest Friör Jötn to ever live. I, am your uncle." My...who? What....what was going on? I had so many questions. "Wait, you referred to me as...Jörvintir? But, I've been called (Y/n) my whole life." Or at least I thought.
The feeling of pride faded away. "Jörvintir is your true name, young Jötun. The humans of Midgård gave you the name '(Y/n)' ". What was Midgård? Did he mean....Earth? Wait a minute. I'm....I'm not from Earth! I'm a freaking ALIEN!! " Calm yourself, little one. Ask and I shall answer." Okay. Okay, just breath..."How....did I end up on Ea-uh...Midgård?"
