                              Kara's POV
After I changed out of my super suit, we left the DEO and headed for Noonan's. We still had a few hours left on our shift at Cat Co., which meant I still had a few hours to get chewed out for being late with Ms. Grant's food. (Y/n) was a big help. "So, how exactly are we going to get that salad on the house?" He looked to me. "Leave it to me. Wait here."

He disappeared into an alley and left me alone. I waited for about 15 minutes before he came back, soot dabbling his face here and there. "Uh, (Y/n), what did you do? You're filthy!" He smiled as he panted. "Just...tinkered with a few things....to make sure we get that....salad. Don't....worry about it."

He gave me a tired smile. "Are you gonna be alright?" He nodded as he bent over and placed his hands on his knees. "Clashing. Tired. New body. Tired." That's all he gave me before sitting on the ground. "You go on without me. Holler if you need some backup." He let his head rest against the wall. I went in without him.

"Heya miss! How can I help you?" The cashier at the front greeted me with a cheery tone. "Would you like to try our special today? Or are you looking for something in particular?" I smiled at him as I took a quick glance at the menu. I know what Ms. Grant liked. "Uh, can I have your keto Cobb salad with ranch dressing, please?" He nodded as he tapped away on his device. "Sure thing! Can I get you anything ellllssseee...?" He frowned as he looked at the screen, tapping a few more times to try to fix whatever went wrong. "Uh....sit tight for just a few seconds ma'am. I'll be right back."

After saying that, he disappeared into their back room. I could hear grunts of effort, pants, and sighs of exasperation. After about five minutes, he re-emerged. "I'm so sorry, ma'am. It seems we're having technical difficulties. Do you mind waiting a few moments?" I was reluctant to start throwing my fit, so I decided to stall. "Yeah, sure! It's no problem. It's not for me anyway. It's for my boss. I'm sure she won't mind waiting." I smiled innocently. He gulped out of nervousness, and disappeared again.

Another five minutes and he came back. "I'm so sorry ma'am, but it seems you'll have to wait a little longer. I truly do apologize." I waved my hands in a dismissive manner. "No worries! I'm a patient woman." He smiled gratefully and I almost felt bad. Then, (Y/n) ran into the store like a mad man, panting to catch his breath. I could tell it was an act. We must've been taking too long. "Kara! There you are! I've been looking everywhere for you! What's the hold up? Ms. Grant wants her salad pronto."

I smiled sheepishly. "Sorry. Something's going on with their system. Did...did Ms. Grant send you?" I pretended to be nervous. Not all of it was an act though. We needed to get a move on, and quick. "Yeah. She is furious. Said that she doesn't understand why it's taking so long to get a bowl of veggies and ranch. I-I think we might lose our job." He pauses for a moment looking from the man to me. "Maybe calling her would help?"

The man then took the liberty to cut in. "I'm sorry, did you say Ms. Grant? As in Cat Grant?" Both (Y/n) and I shrugged as if it was no big deal. "Yeah. Is there...a problem? We could....call if there is..." His eyes widened and were so large, it looked painful. "No! No, uh....that won't be necessary. I'll give it to you on the house...? Consider it both an apology for being inadequate, and a thanks for all the fantastic work Cat does for National City." We both smiled at that. "That'd be nice, kind sir. Thank you."

The man disappeared again. I looked at (Y/n) incredulously. "Kind sir? Really?" He shrugged. "What? It got the job done, didn't it? Lay off, K." I rolled my eyes at him. "Suck up." He scoffed at this. "You're one to talk." Before I could respond, the man came back with the salad in hand. A drink too. "Here you go. You tell Ms. Grant that I'm so so so sorry."

"WILL DO!" We both shouted as we exited the shop. I let out a breath I didn't know I as holding until now. "Let's agree to never do that again. Okay?" (Y/n) pouted. "But it was fun!" I glared at him. "Fine! Okay." I pondered for a moment. "Hey, (Y/n)?" He looked at me. "Yeah, K?" I smiled. So did he. "We make a good team." He laughed at this. "Yeah, we do." My smile widened. "Eh? Eh?"

I raised my hand for a high five. He groaned in fake annoyance. "You're corny, K. You know that?" He obliged and gave me a high five. "Yeah, I know. It's one of the many things you love about me." He thumped me in my forehead. I frowned at him. "Ow!" I threw his arm around my shoulders and pulled me closer as we walked back to Cat Co. "Never change, K. Not ever. For anyone." I smiled at that. "You got it, partner."
