                              Kara's POV
It's been at least....I don't know 2 hours since I've been here? (Y/n) is still unconscious. But oddly enough, his eyes have been moving from behind his eyelids. Alex said it's almost like he's in deep R.E.M sleep, except obviously he's not. She said it was akin to a coma, but my the way his vitals would react upon hearing us, it signaled to be something totally new.

I, admittedly, was afraid. I've never seen anything like this before, and neither had Alex—and she has seen some things. "(Y/n), please. If you can hear me, give me a sign. I need to know that you're okay. I feel responsible for all of this somehow. If I'd just been stronger, none of this would've happened." I lapsed back into silence. This had all shaken me deeply.

What I didn't understand was why I was acting like this. I knew (Y/n) was in a weird state, but I was....I was....I couldn't even find words for how this felt. All I know is it felt deep in my soul. It was inexplicable. Then, I felt unrest within me. I looked to (Y/n) who now had tears running down his face. 'How...is this possible?' How is it that he was crying while unconscious?

He took a sharp intake a breath and gripped my forearm. His expression held a tight pain, like a grimace. But he didn't speak. He was breathing really hard, causing the machines to go haywire. I was so stupefied, I froze. I didn't know what to do. But somehow, I lunged into action.

I leaned forward to his ear spoke sternly. "(Y/n), listen to me. I'm here. Do you hear me? Do you understand? I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. Take it easy." I leaned back to study his features. Pain clung to them. I watched and waited for a change. At first, there was nothing but a few more tears shed, and then, he relaxed. His grip slackened, and I took the opportunity to take his hand in both of mine.

I was so shaken that all I could do was rest my head on my hands. "Kara? There's something you need to see." I looked up to see both Alex and Hank. I looked back to (Y/n). "I'll be back." I reassured him. "Okay. Let's go."

They had both led me to an all new corridor with a handprint pad next to a door. Hank looked at me expectantly. "Go on. It opens for you, and you only." I hesitantly placed my hand on the scanner. It was silent for a few moments before it beeped. "Welcome, Daughter Of Alura."

I took a step back in shock as I heard those words. The door opened. I took one last look at Hank and Alex before walking into the room. The door closed behind me as I took in the lay of the room. It was spacious, but not very big. There was one huge pad in the middle of the room. It then hummed to life, and I saw...."M-Mom?"

The hologram looked at me with no signs of emotion. "Hello, Kara. It's been quite some time." My eyes stung with happy tears. "Mom? How....how are you...?" She smiled. "As you can tell, I am not really here. My main objective is to answer any questions you may have."

I took a few breaths to calm myself. "Can I...? Can you....fulfill requests?" She pauses for a beat, tilting her head. "I can." She smiled but it was without emotion. It was cold, in a sense. "Can I have a hug?" I asked hopefully. Her smiled fell. "I'm sorry, Kara, but I cannot do that. Do you have any other requests?"

My smile dropped at that. It stung, not being able to embrace her for so long. But then my thoughts became darker. More somber. "Why...why did you send me away? Did you know that all of this would happen?" She froze, seemingly...thinking. "I cannot answer that." What did she mean? No...not 'she'. 'It'. This...this thing was not my mother. "Answer me! Did you know that this would happen?!" It shook it's head.

"I cannot answer that." I began to cry out of rage. "You left me! You left me alone, you sent me away! HOW COULD YOU DO THAT!?" Once again, the hologram of my mother shook its head. "I cannot answer that."

I screamed out of rage as I activated my heat vision. I aimed it at the hologram, but the beams fruitlessly passed through the hologram. I hardly registered the sound of the doors hissing open, and the rapid, pounding footsteps that followed.

I felt arms wrap me in a tight, comforting embrace. I let the tears flow freely. "It's okay, Kara. It's okay." I thought about how she could've gotten in here. The door was only supposed to open for me.

I was exhausted. "Could you...could you take me back to (Y/n)?" She nodded wordlessly. "Of course, Kar." She hauled me back to (Y/n)'s room and set me down in the chair closest to his bed. "Here you go. Rest up." She left without a word.

I was so tired. "(Y/n). Please, please wake up. I...I miss you and I'm worried. I need my best friend right now." My hearing was fading in and out. I didn't hear him groan. "K-Kara.....? Is that....?" My head snapped up. "(Y/N)!!!!" I bolted forward and hugged him. I pulled back with tears pricking the corners of my eyes. "What'd I miss?" He asked with that stupid, lopsided grin.
