When You Called Me Over That Day (Kirito x Sinon)

Chapter 1

~~Nobody's POV~~

          Asuna just finished hanging out at Kazuto's house and was at the door saying her goodbyes. She walked off and Kazuto watched as she turned left from the main street into a small alleyway.

          Kazuto went back inside his house and went to the kitchen to get a snack. He opened a cabinet and picked up a box of chips. He brought the chips with him to his room and looked through the window. He looked at the alleyway that Asuna went to. Kazuto stared outside blankly for a few minutes and then went over to his bed to play some ALO.

          Before he put on the AmuSphere, *bzzt* *bzzt*, he got a message. The message was from his best friend, Shino.

Shino: Hey, wanna come over to my place to hangout? I bought chips and soda.

Kazuto smiled. He had something else to do other than playing ALO and leveling up for hours and hours alone.

Kazuto: Sure, see you soon.

Shino: See you.

          Kazuto went to his room and got changed. He wore a red t-shirt and a black hoodie on top of it. He put on jeans and went to Suguha's room and knocked on her door.

"Yo, Suguha! I'm heading over to Shino's house! I'll be back later!"

"OK, see you later. Can you buy some ingredients for dinner on your way back?"

"Sure"

          Suguha opened the door and handed Kazuto the ingredients for curry.

          She followed him to the door and they said their 'goodbyes'. Kazuto walked out the door and turned right. He walked a few metres forward and turned left to the alleyway that Asuna went through.

          Kazuto's eyes widened. He froze. His worst nightmare came to life. He saw Asuna holding another guy's hand and kissing him on the cheek. He was a little taller than Kazuto and he was quite good looking too.

~~Kazuto's POV~~

What? That's not Asuna right. No... I know that long, chestnut coloured hair anywhere.

          I started to tear up but stopped myself.

No. This must be some misunderstanding.

          I turned back and hid behind the hard stone wall, my right eye peeking from the side of the grey wall. I can't find an excuse.

          Asuna took out her phone from her purse and used it. The man next to her waiting for her.

          After about 3 minutes, she put her phone back in her purse and walked away with the guy. At the same moment she turned off her phone, I got a message. It read:

Asuna: Hey Kazuto. I don't feel like our relationship is working out. I feel like we should just be friends. There's nothing wrong with you, it's just hard to explain. I'm really sorry. I'll try to explain everything when school starts again.

          I read the message again and again, trying to find a text saying it's just a joke, but after 5 minutes of just staring at my screen, I found nothing . I threw my phone on the floor out of frustration. Tears started running down my face and I started to lose balance. I hit my shoulder on the wall. I sat there for an hour staring at the broken phone I threw on the floor, watching the seconds go by. I couldn't think. My brain was shut off. Depression started flowing through me. Negative thoughts were overflowing my mind. I was confused. I was angry. I was frustrated.

Couldn't you at least tell me in person? Guess it wasn't worth her time. What's my chance to get back together with her? Close to none, probably. Compared to the guy she was with... I'm an eyesore. Who is that guy anyway? It doesn't matter. I'm out of the picture now.

          I suddenly got a text. It was from Shino.

Shino: Hey, where are you? It's been more than an hour already. Are you OK? Are you coming?

          I totally forgot. I got up, taking a different route to Shino's house. I looked up at the sky. An hour ago, it was a beautiful blue sky with no clouds. But now, the blue sky was getting covered by clouds.

          I flipped my hood over my head, and walked under the grey sky.
