Chapter 37

~~Kazuto's POV~~

          I sat up. I looked around the park wondering if there were people there but not a person in sight.

Guess it's still pretty early in the morning.

          I leaned my back against the bench that we were sitting on when I felt something on my shoulder.

"Eh-"

          I looked at my left shoulder to see Shino's head lying on it. I didn't know what to do so I just stayed still. The wind started to get stronger and the trees started to shake with leaves falling onto the ground.

"Kazuto."

Shino said as she took my injured hand and held it.

"Yes?"

"Thank you."

          I looked at her. She was smiling but I could see tears running down her face. Her happy smile was still showing but she was crying.

"Shino! Are you okay?"

          I said in a hurry.

"Yea... I'm just s-so happy and r-relieved."

          I kept myself silent and continued to hear what she had to say.

"I was so scared. I could have d-died..."

          She then faced me and started crying on my shoulder, my shirt absorbing all of her tears.

"Thank you! Kazuto!"

          I wrapped my arms around her while she shifted her head to my chest. She kept crying and crying. This went on for around 15 minutes.

          She moved her head back and wiped away her tears.

"Shino."

          She looked up at me with tears still going down her cheek.

"Y-yes?"

          I wipe her tears from her face.

"I will always find you and I promise that I will always save you, no matter what. I promise."

          She smiled.

"Let's go home, Shino."

"Yea, let's go."

          I said let's go back but I have no idea where to go. We can't go back to either of our houses because Asuna knows where we live. I thought about going to Agil's place but Asuna knows where he lives too.

          We started walking down the path next to the lake in the park. I looked at Shino, her face showing happiness.

Yea, there's nothing to worry about. With that happy face, I can keep her safe. I must not let that smile go away. She should smile like that all the time.

          After that, we walked around the park and went to the exit.

Right! From here on out, I will protect Shino's smile!

"Let's go!"

"Yea!"
