Chapter 34

~~Shino's POV~~

          Asuna pushed me. I hit my head on the ground, my eyes closed. I open them to see Asuna on top of me, holding the sharp part of the knife above me. She was sweating waterfalls and she was breathing heavily and even though her face was quite far from mine, I could still hear it.

"I can do it. I can do it."

          She kept repeating that over and over again while tears flowed out her eyes, down her cheek and landing on me. She looked terrified.

           I tried to push her away but I couldn't.

SHE'S SO HEAVY!!! What's wrong with her?!

          She froze. Both her hands dropped down beside her.

"I can't do it..."

          Suddenly, her whole body flew to the side and hit one of the bushes. I sat up and saw Kazuto. He looked tired and he too was breathing very heavily.

"Shino are you okay?!"

          I got up and ran behind him and hugged his arm.

"Yes, thank you Kazuto."

          Asuna was sitting down on the floor, her head bleeding from the thorns. Her knee was bruised and her hands were filled with cuts, also from the thorns. Kazuto didn't move. He looked at Asuna.

"Kazuto."

Eh... Asuna can still talk? I guess that's good.

"..."

"Kazuto."

          She called out to him again.

"Yes?"

"You were right. I couldn't kill her."

"Ehhhhh! So you were trying to kill me!"

"Sorry, Shino."

          The small area started to get even darker as the sun went down.

"Kazuto, p-please, tell me, how did you know to come here? To my garden?"

"You told me I've been here before... and we only knew each other after SAO and so I checked all the places we've been together. I didn't really go anywhere after the SAO incident so..."

"Ah, I see. You remembered."

          Tears started coming out more and her face showed a happy smile.

"But... I'm not giving up."

"..."

          Kazuto didn't say anything.

"Let's go, Shino."

          He took my hand and we started walking out of the garden's path.

          All of a sudden, I hear footsteps getting louder and louder from behind. I turn around.

"AHHHHH!!!"

*stab*

"Ehh? Ka-Kazuto!"

          Kazuto plunged his hand in between my back and Asuna's knife before she could stab me. The knife was sticking into his hand and out the other side. I kicked Asuna, her body following my foot's movement made her fly to one of the bushes again. The knife was still in Kazuto's hand. I took his uninjured hand and ran away with him.

"Kazuto! I'll save you! I promise!"
