FORKS WASHINGTON, 2005
Hero Kelly sighed as she breathed in deeply, eyes closed gently where she stood on the porch of the beautiful Cullen home. It did not matter how many years went by or how many times she recounted the human years of her life, it still shït fear through her body when the memories of the asylum were brought the the forefront of her mind. She could see it now, so vividly as she stood with her eyes closed, she could see every wall, window and crack- and it terrified her, it always had.
"Are you okay?" She jumped when a voice sliced through her calm, so swallowed up in her own thoughts that she did not even notice his approach. But his voice was magnificent, like fine music as he took to standing beside her, facing out over the sunrise. Hero glanced at Carlisle, and she was in awe of him in an instant, how could one person be so marvellously good looking? "I apologise, I did not mean to startle you."
"No, it's okay. I was just lost in thought, is all." Her brow creased ever so slightly into a frown as she analysed the tops of the trees where they brushed the sky. It was certainly beautiful there, in that murky town. Hero wasn't sure why, but as she stood there; she had the sudden desire to say more. She knew, true to her own nature, that she should be afraid of him but instead, Hero felt nothing but perfectly warm calm swim through her where he leant on the railing. Carlisle gentlemanly left a large gap between the two of them that made them seem so distant while the atmosphere screamed at closeness.
"We have spent every day of our lives searching for her. Since that very first moment of vampirism. As incredible as it feels to have found her, what are we to do now?" She finally met his eyes and he could see the conflict there- a conflict he wished nothing more than to obliterate. Carlisle Cullen was no oblivious man, he knew who Hero Kelly was, she was the thing he had been searching his whole life for. And it felt like a warm reunion to him, standing there beside her.
"Perhaps it is time to begin a new adventure" his voice was like soft velvet to her and she wanted nothing more than to close her eyes and listen to it on repeat for eternity, the thought scared her. Because, she knew who he was to her, deep down she had known it since the second she laid eyes on him but there was something so terrifying about finding the thing you always needed, Carlisle was what she needed but never even knew she wanted and they had only said two sentences to one another. Vampires worked in such magnificently peculiar ways.
"Or maybe, it is time to stop with the adventures and grow up." She smiled gently, eyes turning back and he followed her gaze to where Esme and Simon chatted together, walking side-by-side along the tree line. "Maybe it is time to stay in one place for longer than a few months... I do believe that it would be a struggle to get Simon to leave now."
"Yes. Esme seems... happier than I have ever seen her." Carlisle frowned though there was a small smile on his lips. In just a single day, the Kelly siblings had caused quite the stir but he couldn't bring himself to regret that. "She is like a sister to me."
"Simon will make her happy... I have never seen him so happy either." She smiled fondly and it was abundantly clear that the two of them were close as close could be, an inseparable bond.
"And what about you? What do you think about staying in Forks?" He questioned, eyes sincerely questioning though gentle all the while as they unconsciously stepped closer, eyes never moving from one another's in that moment. It seemed like the most important decision Hero had ever had to make; stay or go? And she didn't know why it felt so difficult.
"I've grown to rather like Forks. Maybe this is that next adventure." Hero blinked meaningfully and Carlisle couldn't help the way a smile twisted across his lips. He was in awe of her as the sun slowly rose over the tree line, startling their skin into an array of matching sparkles that glittered so beautifully. No one had ever been so gorgeous to Carlisle, as Hero Kelly was. She was all things good in the world combined into one single person and he felt himself so painfully drawn to her. Carlisle had never been so lost, yet with her- he felt free. It was as if he had finally found the final piece of a puzzle that he had not even noticed he was missing. It was her.
"I certainly hope so" he stated sincerely and she smiled shyly, eyes dropping to her hands again which implored him to follow her gaze. Lightly, her hands glowed through the suns sparkles and from beneath her fingertips flowed a vine of green, said plant twisted around the railing he had his hands placed upon at the Cullen was in awe as he watched it snake around his hands, holding them there softly. As the vine came to a stop, it suddenly sprouted in the most beautiful roses he had ever seen and he couldn't help the jovial laugh of awe that spread through his lips- it had her grinning in pride.
Authors note; hi! Hero has the power over life which I consider to be power over energy, such as biology. She can alter the energy and biology of the environment around her.
