FORKS, WASHINGTON, 2005

Hero laughed out loudly, in pure happiness as she watched Simon turn his glare to her. She'd just finished stealing his hat after something of a scrap in the football field and he pouted in disappointment like a child as he lunged toward her, grabbing her around the legs and sending her over his shoulder with a laugh as she squealed, her two red dutch braids swinging down around her pale cheeks as she slammed her hand on the top of her head, preventing the hat from falling.

"Oh, hello Bella" Simon grinned, winking as the human suddenly arrived and she assessed the area with wide eyes of vague shock as Carlisle raced around, marking bases. It was strangely overwhelming, all the little scenes occurring around the vast field under the angry grey sky and she watched with shock as Simon started jumping on the spot, shaking his little sister who was over his shoulder like a money jar as she squealed in horror and finally dropped his hat. "Thank you very muchly" he teased and deposited her back on her feet as she pouted.

"Hello, Bella" Hero greeted softly when she finally noticed her presence and Bella seemed strangely self-conscious beside the beautiful red-head who linked arms with her and gently proceeded to tug her along the field. "I think that Esme said she needed an umpire. We are all so glad that you are here."

"I-um- I don't really know why I'm here actually, It's not like I can play" Bella acknowledged shyly, nervous around the woman she had spent so little time with. Hero Kelly hadn't been much older than Bella herself when she'd been turned- according to the very slim about of knowledge Edward had provided her with- though there was a mature sophistication about the woman who was dating Carlisle, something that made Bella herself feel nervously childish.

"You're here because you're family Bella, you are one of us now" she grinned and Bella couldn't help but disagree with that- she wasn't one of them, they were beautifully deadly vampires and she was nothing more than a simple human who had somehow been lucky enough to capture Edward's attention.

"Bella" Esme greeted, taking up the humans other side and her head whipped around instantly, capturing the warm smile Hero sent her as the red-head proceeded to dance away. Despite how incredibly dissimilar Alice and Hero were- they strangely reminded Bella of one another, the slenderness of them and the way they seemed to dance as they moved. Hero found herself easily at Carlisle's side and he grinned as his arms snaked around her waist.

"Here you go" he smiled and took his hat straight off of his head, placing it softly on her own and her eyes lit up in excitement as she pressed her lips to his. It was strange, how excited she became from something so simple but he grinned at her joy, pressing one last kiss to her forehead before pulling away calmly as the thunder rolled across above them and Alice clapped in excitement.

"It's time" she cheered and Simon pouted as he learnt that he and his sister were getting split up and put on different teams- they were 'tearing apart the famous Kelly duo' as he put it and then Esme proceeded to inform that if they were truly as great as Simon made out, whichever team had them on would be at an unfair advantage- that seemed to dispel his sadness somewhat.

Hero Kelly grinned in excitement as she bounced on the spot, eyes flitting back and forth around the field as Rosalie took up the first bat. Hero steeled herself with a wide grin as she watched Carlisle take the backstop. Simon and Hero smiled warmly as one another as Alice did her own little dance at the bowling post. They had finally done it, they'd found her and that meant that everything could finally be okay. They didn't, however, have long to reminisce as Rosalie hit the ball with immense strength and they were all off running.

Hero bounced in excitement as Edward caught the ball in the woods and sent it flying back through the trees toward her. Catching it, she sent it flying on further, redirecting it easily and sending it into Esme's waiting hand as Rosalie slid in annoyance, easily being called out by the human.

"Nice kitty" Carlisle warned when he saw her distaste and Rosalie instantly mellowed. The game continued much the same from then on and Hero couldn't help but smile as Simon took up the batting post, much to Emmett's excitement, the burly man had never seemed so excited and Hero knew he was going to do anything in his power to get the red-haired male out, all for the sake of ten dollars. The ball cracked with killer strength and Emmett and Edward both went for it simultaneously, laughing as they crashed together and the ball was missed by both of them.

"Whoop!" Simon cheered for himself as he high-fived Rosalie. Next was Jasper and he hit it straight into a tree, though Emmett was faster as he climbed straight up like a monkey. Hero couldn't help the laughter that spilt from her lips as she whizzed off in search of the ball Carlisle had sent flying at a ridiculous speed into the woods.

It was in those woods, as she finally grabbed the ball in her fist and was preparing to send it flying back, that she felt a shift underfoot. Hero Kelly had the power of the energy that coursed through the earth and she could feel the charge that their presence caused even before Alice shouted 'Stop' from behind her.

Hero ran at an incredible pace to find that the baseball field had cracked from its warm and inviting atmosphere, becoming panicked just at the scent of what was coming.

"They were leaving, and then they heard us" Alice informed Edward who was in a look of panic. Carlisle instantly accepted Hero into his arms, protectively as they backed up toward the human.

"Let's go" Edward tried.

"It's too late" Carlisle sighed as his eyes scanned over Hero once, forcing all of his emotions of love and affection into a singular glance before he strode forward to meet their new arrivals. Hero easily fell in line with her brother, though the second he tensed in horrified shock- she did too.

"What?" she breathed so lowly that none of the others managed to capture it.

"It's him" Simon returned, eyes pinned on the blond male nomad as they strode into the field and Hero clamped her hand with her older brothers in a reassuring manner as she pulled a confused Alice close to her side. None of the others knew, but they were now facing off with a deadly tracker who was their reason for being there that day. It was because of this blond nomad that their sire had been killed, and Alice and Simon were turned...
