FORKS, WASHINGTON, 2005The little redhead's eyes scanned over her bags that lay across her bed; after days of contemplation- she had finally decided to make the official move from their original house in Forks (the one they had only spent a few days at) to the official Cullen household. Simon had made the switch a few days ago but for some reason, Hero clung on longer to the small house, as if it was the final thing from stopping her from fully committing to her new destiny. Her conversation with Carlisle had assured her that she was doing the right thing.
Grabbing the handles of her bags easily, she lifted them and exited the room without a second glance- before she could give herself the chance to change her mind. The redhead opened the front door awkwardly and proceeded to shut it with her foot, almost jumping in fright when someone appeared beside her through the hammering rain. Carlisle chuckled down at her as he took the cases easily and- protesting for a second- she sighed in resignation and allowed him to do so.
While Hero locked the door calmly, Carlisle took the short distance down the front porch to his shiny black Mercedes to deposit her minimal belongings in the trunk. What was a house to a vampire anyway? A place to socialise, relax and shower. The little white house in the forest didn't hold any sentimental value to Hero and she didn't even offer it so much as a second glance as she bustled back down through the rain, giggling as Carlisle held her door open for her, drowning himself in the rain in the process of being a gentleman.
When Carlisle rejoined, taking a seat behind the wheel, the two of them exchanged glances before bursting out into laughter. They were soaked but strangely, it was weirdly exhilarating and she laughed sweetly as she allowed her hand to reach up and push one of his rogue curls gently away from his forehead, pushing it back into place. The second her hand touched his cheek, the temperature in the car seemed to skyrocket and she swallowed as her hand lingered on his cheek for a moment. Carlisle said nothing, nor did he make any movement to touch her as her fingers ghosted across his cheekbone though he involuntarily leant into that touch.
Over the past week, Hero and Carlisle had been at their very happiest; they had been learning more and more about one another- Hero learnt all about Carlisle's story and how he became to be a vampire, the leader of the coven, she learnt that he was a booklover and enjoyed helping people and Carlisle learned that Hero enjoyed drawing- something she was incredibly brilliant at. She told her tales of her travels over the past few decades, where she and Simon had ended up over their time pursuing Alice and it just felt perfect, neither of them knew that life could be so good.
"Thank you for helping me" Hero beamed as she allowed her hand to drop back down into her lap and he didn't seem to mind the cutting off of the contact as he calmly began to drive. He was the best driver Hero had ever met, always sticking to the speed limit- something that shocked her. Though Hero herself had always been a terrible driver, even with her enhanced vampire abilities- that was why she had absolutely no issue allowing the blond man to take over the wheel.
"Of course, thank you for finally moving in. I understand that Rosalie and Alice are very excited" he quipped and she smiled, snuggling back into the seat and feeling perfectly content despite how drenched they both were at that moment.
"When I walked in yesterday, the room I was apparently allowed to design was already made" she giggled. "I think that was them hinting to hurry up and move in already." Carlisle chuckled along softly.
"You can redo it if you'd like?"
"I want to, just to make a point and be annoying but... They've actually done a really good job" Hero grinned and he chuckled along as he drove smoothly. When silence fell over the two of them, it wasn't uncomfortable, in fact, it felt completely and utterly normal. "Did Edward tell you?"
"That he has told Isabella?" Carlisle hummed and she nodded, smiling tightly- the doctor flashed her a reassuringly grin before continuing. "He did. I think that it was inevitable, he was always going to tell her eventually. He has gone on something of a rebellious streak. But I can't say I blame him if he feels even half of what I feel for you, for this Bella... It's no wonder he wanted her in his life" he winked, proud when he saw the warm glow in her eyes.
"You're so sweet" she laughed softly, leaning across and sliding her hand into his where it rested in his lap. Despite it being the first time she had ever done so- it felt as though it belonged there. Softly, Carlisle's thumb stroked over her knuckles as he drove one-handed, easily. Their relationship was steadily developing, much faster than she ever could have anticipated though she found herself loving the feeling. Hero Kelly loved being in love.
"Home sweet home" Carlisle beamed at her as he pulled smoothly into the garage- their adventure was only just beginning but it felt perfect.
