FORKS WASHINGTON, 2005

Hero breathed in and out deeply, nervous as she followed their new acquaintances through the forest, this moment was long anticipated though they knew exactly the reaction they'd receive from her- no reaction at all because she didn't remember. It didn't stop the nervous excitement from expanding like a balloon in her chest though.

Hero allowed her arm to fall through the loop of her brothers as their run finally ground to a steady walk and the trees thinned before cutting off all together. The red headed girl smiled when her shimmering golden eyes trailed over the property they had arrived at, it was beautiful. A stunning construction of wood and glass that stretched high above them, slicing through the clouds in that unnaturally sunny day. And Hero was in awe of it, all the while feeling pride swell in her chest under the knowledge that this place was the home of Mary Alice Brandon- the sweet vampire who Hero once knew deserved nothing less, that much was certain. Alice deserved the world in Hero's opinion and this was certainly a vision of 'the best'.

"We'll round up the whole family, you can meet everyone" Emmett grinned, holding the door open easily for them to step inside the airy place. The burly Cullen was certainly very excited to hear whatever story the two red heads had come bearing as he skipped childishly up the winding staircase, encouraging Rosalie to roll her eyes though her smile was amused as she gestured for them to follow.

"You have a beautiful home." Hero complimented, eyes scanning along the walls as she allowed Simon to easily pull her up the winding staircase- this place was a scene from a movie and Rosalie seemed quite proud of the compliment as they entered what Hero assumed was the main room. The second she stepped in- her gold eyes searched for her long lost sister. In the process, she caught the gazes of many others.

Aside from Rosalie and Emmett, her eyes fell upon a coppery haired man sat at the piano, he had something of a boyish charm that Emmett lacked, and when she stared at him- he stared back unblinkingly. She knew she should have been alarmed by the intensity of his golden state but vaguely, he reminded her of a younger Simon- the thought made her smile and the piano man nodded once, eyes flicking over to the male ginger.

Continuing her examination, she could not help her own smile as she saw the only other female in the room- she was charming, face a lovely heart shape and hair billowing in sweet caramel coloured waves. She was rounder that Rosalie, more approachable with her welcoming smile as she took to standing but her attention was very much distracted from Hero. Following this females gaze, Hero grinned when she noticed the sudden intensity at which Simon and this lady stared at one another, as if exchanging a thousand emotions. Hero didn't understand initially- but then she switched her eyes back around to the front of her and her gaze met his for the very first time.

The man was stunning, a vision of absolute perfection, carved in the eyes of love- she had never seen someone so utterly breathtaking. He was tall as he stood in greeting, toned beneath his simple ash grey dress shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbows revealing thickly toned forearms. His skin was a deathly pale, just as hers was and his glittering golden eyes also matched Hero's. But his face was chiselled, gentle in his smile, plump lips stretched to reveal shimmering white teeth. Atop his head, his slightly curled white-blond hair lay sleek, perfect.

The second she saw him; Hero Kelly was simultaneously warmed and terrified. In eighty five years, she had never allowed herself to be close to anyone except her brother, touching people only to complete the necessary- such as her previous handshake with Emmett and it was all because of what had happened to her all those years ago in the insane asylum over the hill. But this man- he changed her perspective on the world even before she knew his name, even before they'd even exchanged a single word. This man made her want to reach out and hold her hand, the sight of him somehow assured her that holding his hand would solve all her problems- like painkillers when one has a killer headache.

"Everyone, this is Hero and Simon Kelly- they're looking for Alice." Emmett introduced, waving his hand to accentuate his gesture before grin split across his cheeks. "Ah, here she is" and they whipped around at a speed that shocked them all. The second their matching gazes fell upon her after all these years- they wanted nothing more than to weep and hold her tightly, two things they knew they could not do.

She was just as beautiful- if not more so- than Hero Kelly had remembered, her hair still cropped short around her delicate pixie face, a development from the asylum that Hero missed out on due to being in solitary confinement at the time of the lice infestation. The hair suited her marvellously even now, like an inky black halo around her pale face. She was short, just like Hero and slender- it was something that Simon, Hero and Alice had all retained from the institution- their slender bodies due to being so painfully malnourished. Alice frowned when she noticed the way the strangers watched her with such awe, as if she was a literal angel. But as she assessed them, there was something so familiar about them that it warmed her heart and drew her to them in one instant.

Everything seemed to fall into place for Hero and Simon in that moment because they had obtained much more than just a reunion from their venture to Forks Washington.
