Chapter 11: Maiko Ferrer I (The Masquerade)

“Do you have a student here named Maiko Ferrer?” Valeriano politely asked the school registrar of Crimson.

Yes, you read it right. We are now in Crimson University- the lair of the Genesis. I don’t know if I am this courageous but I am now putting myself into a great danger. I just entered my chaser’s territory.

We are now in front of Crimson’s registrar’s office. Buti na lang at open sila every Sundays until 12:00 ng tanghali. A young lady with her mid-20s greeted us with her sweet aura. Her bunned hair makes her face looks cuter with her round eyeglasses. Her white blouse with a rectangular name plate on the left side being tucked in with a black pencil skirt makes her looked neat and professional.

“Let me check the documents first Sir. You can sit at the chairs muna po,” Miss Perez calmly replied.

We sat at the chairs alligned at the side for us to wait the process. Wala din naman kaming information kung anong grade level at section ang taong hinahanap namin kaya medyo matagalan sa paghahanap si Miss Perez. Kaya nga kami pumunta dito di ba para kumuha ng mga impormasyon. All we know is that dito siya sa Crimson nag-aaral.

“You think nahalata niya tayo sa ating pagpapanggap bilang Northville Gazetta staffers?” I slowly asked Valeriano. Sinadya kong hinaan ang aking boses para hindi marinig ng school registrar. Mabuti na lang at walang masyadong tao dito.

“Kung nahalata niya, edi kanina pa siya tumawag ng guard o di kaya’y nandito na ang taga-school administration ng Crimson para palayasin tayo,” mahinang litanya sa akin ni Valeriano.

Oo nga naman di ba. Tumango na lang ako kay Valeriano bilang pagsang-ayon sa kanya. Pinakalma ko na lang ang sarili at pinagdasal na aayon ang lahat sa gusto naming mangyari.

I hope that we can get enough information about Maiko Ferrer.

But first, let me tell how we got into this situation.

Genesis’ weird actions towards me giving me nightmares. Not just only once, but thrice and the latest one gave me major goosebumps. I can still remember how the minions of the Genesis abducted me after I receive the ace of hearts card. They brought me to a place where I think no one can find me. Then I saw there so-called Boss, which I thought to be Maiko Ferrer but it turned out to be Harold Ivan Monteclaro of Northville. But based on what our ancestors said, what we see in our dreams will be the reciprocal of what we will experience in real life. So that means, I won’t get abducted and Harold Ivan Monteclaro isn’t Maiko Ferrer.

After that worst nightmare, my mind is full of confusions. First is about my f*cking MASTER. I’m still confused why I saw Mr. Gray there together with the minions of the Genesis. Does he have a major connection with Maiko Ferrer? Is he just a normal heir of the owner of Northville? This is a big question that runs to my mind right now. I think Ivan is a man that has something big on his sleeves and I want that something to come out from his sleeves.

Second, Maiko Ferrer. If Valeriano isn’t bluffing with me about the Genesis, Maiko Ferrer is the so-called leader of this gang in Crimson. I haven’t seen this guy in my life. If my memory serves right, I’ve never been associated with someone named Maiko Ferrer. Yes, I’ve joined various academic competitions before but I haven’t encountered this name. Maybe he’s a sporty man. I haven’t joined sports competitions because first, I’m not sporty and most of all, I can’t feel that sports belong to me. That’s why his physical appearance, background information, and characters intrigued me a lot. I need to know him. That’s why I asked Valeriano to join me to search for answers. I decided to go to Crimson University to gather some information.
