Chapter 39: The Unexpected Farewell

“Fre-Freya?”

I knelt down to the ground as I uttered her name. Her dead body is right in front of me. Even her left hand is extended right to my direction. It’s just like a typical crime scenes where a young lady was shot at the side of the street but this time, it’s Freya who jumped up from a tall school building, swimming her own pool of blood right beside the building’s corridor.

I can’t believe this. I mean— how can she be dead? Were just talking happily at the Repertory Club yesterday. I just knew that she isn’t a b*tch. She’s too good to be taken so sooner.

Bianca caressed my back as she help me stood up. My eyes aren’t crying, but there’s a pain in my heart. I mean— we are not yet closed to each other, but she’s a person that I am ready to treat as one of my friends.

Actually, it isn’t hard to make friend of her. That attitude that she showed to me a couple of days ago was just fabricated. It wasn’t real. She just want me to be jealous of her, so that I can confess my feelings to Mr. Gray which I did yesterday and I was caught off guard. A clever strategy from her by the way.

“Totoo nga ang sinasabi nila,” Bianca uttered in a woeful tone.

Siguro, kagaya ko ay hindi rin siya makapaniwala sa sinapit ng babaeng ito. Like who in the earth wouldn’t be surprised with this sudden incident. The whole campus just enjoyed the grand opening of the intramurals and with just a snap of a finger, an unexpected event turned out.

I just nodded at her. I can’t speak right now. My voice will surely crack.

Well honestly speaking, I am not an emotional person like who easily cries when a melancholic event happens, but seeing Freya in this extremely bad state made me soft.

“F*ck! Freya?”

I quickly panned my head to my left when I heard his voice. I saw how his eyes widened when he recognized who is lying on the ground. He is surely shocked with what happened. Like again, who wouldn’t be shocked with this event? Kahit siguro ang pinakawalang pake sa mundong ito ay mabibigla kung malalaman niya na tumalon sa matayog na building ang isa sa pinakasikat na babae sa Northville.

Dali-dali siyang lumapit sa nakahigang katawan ni Freya at niyugyog ito. He’s like a leading man in a movie who’s trying to wake up his unconscious leading lady after a tragic event. Even the teachers can’t stop him from shaking the poor girl’s dead body.

I never seen Mr. Gray bursted out in tears, but I can tell that he’s ready to cry right now. He wiped the cheeks of the young lady which was being stained by her own blood. Freya’s still his childhood friend.

“Why are you just standing there? Bakit hindi niyo pa siya dinadala sa hospital?” he shouted at the teachers that surrounded him and the dead Freya.

Siguro, he’s still not mindful that the girl he’s hugging right now is already out of breath. Kaya kahit dadalhin pa siya sa hospital ngayon, it would be pure useless.

Nagsimula na ring dumami ang mga estudyanteng nakiki-usyuso sa nangyari. Maraming nagulat at hindi makapaniwala sa nangyari. No doubt that she’s really popular here in the campus. You can see the sadness in everyone’s eyes. Her two friends are here too, wiping their cheeks that was wet with their rolling tears.
