The old promise
"Woo let's pway here" said seven year old Mingi. "Okay Minky" said seven year old Wooyoung. The two played on the slides for a bit before going on the swings. "Minky will you pwomise me somewing?" Asked Wooyoung. "What is it Woo?" Asked Mingi as they got off the swings. "When we're old enough will you promise to date me and be my boyfriend" said Wooyoung. Mingi thought for a second. "Okay Woo I pwomise I'll be your boyfriend when we older" promised Mingi. "Pinky pwomise" said Wooyoung holding out his little finger. "Pinky pwomise" agreed Mingi connecting their fingers. The two hugged tightly before their parents came and collected them to go home.
A few weeks later Wooyoungs parents moved away taking Wooyoung with them. Mingi cried for weeks missing his best friend. The two never forgot their promise though and whenever someone asked Mingi out he always turned them down keeping himself for Wooyoung when the time was right.
*Twelve years later*
"Hey Mingi I hear we have a popular K-pop group visiting today" said Yunho Mingis best friend and co worker. "Ah really. Who?" Asked Mingi as he put the chairs down. The two worked in a K-pop idol cafe where idols would often visit making it a popular attraction. "A rookie group called Ateez" said Yunho. "Okay" replied Mingi. The two finished cleaning the place up before opening their doors. The day was busy like normal and about an hour and a half before closing time a group of six boys walked in wearing bright vibrant clothes and the two workers could tell that they were the rookie group that was visiting. Yunho politely walked up and escorted them to a table before giving them the menus.
"They're hot" said Yunho as came back to the counter. "I swear you only work here so you can check out all the hot guys that walk in" teased Mingi. Yunho just smiled and nodded. Mingi laughed and continued to make coffees. After a few minutes Yunho went back to the table and took their orders. "4 Cappuccinos and 2 lattes ok" said Yunho as he came back to the counter. "Ok" said Mingi as he started making the drinks. Once he had finished them he placed them on a tray and started making his way over to the table. "Here are your drinks enjoy." Said Mingi politely as he placed the drinks and bowed before heading back behind the counter. "The sexy one is checking you out" said Yunho as Mingi got back. Mingi looked back and saw the cute boy with familiar eyes checking him out. Mingi smiled and waved as the boy waved back.
"He's just being friendly" said Mingi as he blushed. Yunho just smirked and nodded. "You like him don't you" said San as he watched his best friend admire the boy behind the counter. "He looks familiar... He looks like my best friend from back in gwanju before I came to Seoul" said Wooyoung. "Check his name tag later" said San. Wooyoung nodded and focused back on the conversation and his coffee. Mingi continued his work glancing over at the group every now and then mainly checking out the boy who looked oddly familiar. "Mingi ah can you serve the man over there" said Yunho. "Of course hyung" replied Mingi as he went over. "Excuse me sir may I take your order?" Asked Mingi politely.
"Hey gorgeous. How about your number?" Asked the man smirking. "I-i'm sorry I can't tell you that... Would you like a drink or something to eat?" Asked Mingi uncomfortably. "I could eat your ass if you want...but for now I'll just have a tea and a doughnut" said the man. Mingi nodded and bowed slightly as he hurried back. "You okay Mingi?" Asked Yunho worriedly. "What um yeah. The guy was a bit creepy that's all just stay away yeah I'll serve him" said Mingi. Yunho nodded and hugged him before the two headed back to their work. Mingi made the man's order before taking it over to the man. "Thanks princess. How about you sit on my lap and keep me company" suggested the creepy man placing his hand on Mingis thigh.
"N-no thank you. Enjoy" said Mingi as he pushed the man's hand off and hurried away. Wooyoung frowned as he watched the situation happen. Soon it was almost closing time and there was only the creepy man and the group left. "Just to notify you that the cafe will be closing in five minutes" Mingi. The group thanked him and finished up their drinks and grabbing their coats. "The cafe will close now sir" said Mingi. The creepy man smiled and said "one more minute princess". Mingi frowned and nodded heading back to the counter. "My mum just rang she had a fall and I need to go help her can you close up today Mingi?" Asked Yunho as he quickly grabbed his stuff. "Of course I hope she's okay. Tell her I said hi" said Mingi as he hugged his best friend goodbye.
The group came up and paid before heading out and hanging around outside. "Excuse me sir I'm going to have to ask you to leave I need to close up the cafe" said Mingi. The man stood up and started walking towards the counter coming in behind. "Sir your not allowed around this side of the counter... p-please leave" said Mingi backing up as the man continued heading towards him. "Your so pretty princess how about you come with me there's a hotel nearby" said the man as he grabbed Mingis ass. Mingi gasped and tried pushing him away but the man was quite strong. "S-stop stop please" begged Mingi as his eyes became teary and the man continued to touch him inappropriately.
The man continued to touch him and started kissing down his neck trying to get his shirt off. "Stop please stop I don't like it I don't want this" begged Mingi as he continued trying to get away. The man ripped Mingis shirt and Mingi started crying and screaming. "Hey get off him" shouted someone. Wooyoung came behind the counter and pulled the guy off of him. "The police are on their way so I suggest you stop" said Wooyoung. The man quickly ran out and Mingi hurried to rebuttoned his shirt. "Are you ok?" Asked Wooyoung. Mingi nodded and wiped his tears and held his shirt together since the man had ripped his buttons off. "T-thank you sir" said Mingi. "What's your name?" Asked Wooyoung. "M-mingi" said the elder. "Omg it is you." Said Wooyoung happily.
"D-do I know you?" Asked Mingi confused. "It's me Wooyoung your best friend from twelve years ago" said Wooyoung. "Omg Woo" said Mingi as he hugged him close. "I missed you so much" said Wooyoung as he held his best friend close. "I missed you too Woo" replied Mingi. "I'm sorry we had to reunite like this" said Mingi as he continued to hold his shirt. "It's okay... Do you remember our promise?" Asked Wooyoung. "That when we were older enough we would date and be boyfriends" said Mingi. Wooyoung nodded and said "do you still want to". "I promised didn't I. And Minky never breaks a promise especially a pinky promise" said Mingi. Wooyoung laughed and took his jacket off passing it to Mingi.
"Thanks woo" said Mingi as he slipped it on. "Are you ok did he hurt you?" Asked Wooyoung. "I-i'm ok I was just scared that's all" replied Mingi embarrassed. "Hang on a second and I'll tell the boys to go home without me" said Wooyoung as he left the cafe. Mingi nodded and started putting the chairs up ready to close. "Can I stay at yours tonight?" Asked Wooyoung. "I'd love you to" replied Mingi. The two finished closing up the shop and walked hand in hand back to Mingis apartment. Once the two got in they headed to the living room and cuddled up on the sofa once Mingi had changed shirts. The two talked about what had happened and how Wooyoung became an idol and Mingi worked in a cafe.
"I thought you wanted to be an idol?" Asked Wooyoung. "I did but I then I sustained a back injury and now I can't dance as well as I used to" said Mingi. "Oh ok...did you have any girlfriends or boyfriends?" Asked Wooyoung. "No. I remembered our promise and decided to keep all my firsts for you" said Mingi. Wooyoung smiled and said "so this will be your first kiss". Mingi nodded and Wooyoung leaned in pressing his lips against Mingis. Mingi kissed back pulling Wooyoung closer. "I won't do anything else today because I know that man made you uncomfortable" said Wooyoung as he pulled away pecking Mingis lips. "Thank you Woo" said Mingi. "Wanna go to bed?" Asked Mingi. Wooyoung nodded and followed Mingi to the bedroom.
"Looks like I'm going to have to make a shrine for my new favourite idol" joked Mingi. Wooyoung laughed and kissed him gently. "Do you want some clothes to wear to bed?" Asked Mingi. "Can I have a hoodie?" Asked Wooyoung. Mingi nodded and passed him a hoodie which would be oversized on him. Wooyoung got changed into the hoodie with only some boxers underneath and got under the covers waiting for Mingi. Once Mingi was changed he came back and cuddled up to Wooyoung under the covers. "Night baby" said Mingi. "Night Minky" replied Wooyoung. The two went to Dreamland with Woo dreaming about Mingi whilst Mingi started dreaming before his dream got interrupted by a nightmare of the man earlier.
Wooyoung woke up as Mingi started shaking and crying in his sleep. "Baby baby wake up" said Wooyoung as he shook Mingi. Mingi jolted up and clung onto Wooyoung as he cried. "H-his hands were all o-over me" said Mingi. "It's okay baby he'll never be able to touch you again I won't let him." Said Wooyoung trying to calm the elder down. "Can you replace his touches?" Asked Mingi. "Okay baby just tell me where" said Wooyoung. Mingi told him all the places and Wooyoung replaced the man kissing and touching Mingi so that all he could feel was his lovers touch and not the creepy man's. "Thank you babe" thanked Mingi. "Anything for you sweetheart goodnight" said Wooyoung as they fell asleep properly this time in eachothers arms.
