Chapter 27

"Thanks for coming" Amy said to the last guest that remained after the party ended.

"The party was sick"Roland said.

She smiled, then he left.

Everyone in class had made it to the party apart from Daniel. He had been informed by David but he still hadn't made it.

She had really wanted to see him cause she hadn't seen him since morning when the principal had called.

He hadn't even made it to class and didn't stay for the night class, she exhaled and hoped that he was alright.

"He didn't come" Cher said coming to meet her by the door.

She slowly nodded, she couldn't speak afraid that the tears that threatened to fall will flow freely.

Then Cher pulled her into a bear hug and patted her head. That gesture brought the tears out.

"Let it out girl" Cher said still holding her.

Then David slowly made it to the living room staring at her with his hands in his pockets. He didn't say a thing he just watched.

He had really been helpful in the party, he had done things Daniel should have done if he had made it. Her mum had even thought that he was Daniel and no one corrected her, they just played along.

David had stayed by her side throughout the party even though his girlfriend Daisy had been present. She had been shocked when he had given her a stunning ring as a gift and pecked her cheek, then he had lead her to the dance floor where they danced till they were exhausted.

She had really missed Daniel but David had been there for her and she was really grateful to him, she could swear that the ring worth a fortune.

That hadn't only been the the surprise, her mum had also presented a brand new cruise to her. She had really been shocked and overwhelmed.

Her mum had been so awesome in the party, she had loved the way she her mingled with her classmates as if she was a teenager. The party had been so wonderful but it would have been magical if Daniel had shown up.

"I think I got to go, it's late. Hope you will be okay" Cher said looking at her.

"Yeah, I will be fine" Amy said nodding slowly.

Then Cher waved at David and left.

She turned to face him. "Have you heard from him yet" she said folding her arms.

"No, he haven't called" David said studying her.

"Oh God" She exhaled and raked her hair, she was really tired and worn out. She needed to rest.

"He will be fine am just so surprise that he hasn't even called you yet" David said walking towards her.

She leaned on a table and yawned. "No and I haven't seen him since morning after Mr Isaac had called him" she said with worry laced in her voice.

"Daniel haven't done this before, I mean not keep in touch"

"I just hope that he alright" she sad trying to fight back the tears in her eyes.

He pulled her into his arms and encircled his arms around her waist. "Am always here for you Amy, always" he said holding her tight.

She wanted to pull away, wanted to tell him to leave her all alone but she couldn't, she just couldn't she just leaned on him for strength and comfort.

Then the door open, she reluctantly looked up from David's arm to see Daniel's disheveled face staring intensely at them.

Then she pulled away immediately. He didn't say a word but she could see the pain in his eyes, she ached to console him, to comfort him but he didn't look approachable.

"David a minute" he said with his eyes still on her.

"Is everything_"

"Let's fucking step out" Daniel barked.

She jumped, startled.

David touched her arm and walked away from her to meet his brother by the door.

When they were finally outside, she dropped into a couch and held her face wondering what was up. She felt dizzy and really craved for a hot bathe and sound sleep.

When the door swung open again, she looked up at them. David looked pale and shaken but Daniel face was all the same.

"It's everything okay" she said looking at both brothers.

David managed a smile but it didn't reach his eyes. "Yeah, goodnight Amy, sleep tight" he said, then they turned to go.

"Daniel" she called out, she saw him stiffen and slowly turn to her.

She wanted to yell and curse at for keeping her waiting, for keeping her in suspense, for not attending her party, for treating her like a fool, for making her love him unquestionably and hopelessly but instead she ran to him and hugged him tight as tears flowed freely.

He held still but only for a second, then he held her tight patting her back.

"Am sorry honey" he whispered in her ears as she kept on crying with her tears soaking his shirt.

"You didn't make it" she said whimpering.

"Yeah, and am really sorry something came up but I promise to make it up to you" he said pulling her back, then he cupped her cheeks and brushed the tears away with his thumbs.

"I love you" he said, then he pulled away and left with David.

She just stared as they left with tears blinding her. Then she dropped to the floor and exhaled looking heavenwards with pain in her heart.
