PREDICTED LOVE

Naniniwala ba kayo sa hula?

Kasi ako, hindi.

Not until the one who predicted my future was the man I loved before.

"Gusto mo hulaan kita?"

I let out a chuckle. "Sige."

He scanned me from head to toe and snapped his fingers when he finally got something to say.

"Sino?" I asked as if I'm interested with his answer.

He kept his eyes serious. "Yung manghuhula."

He was right. That day, as he confessed his true feelings to me, I did the same.

He loves to predict our future.

And he was right again though I wasn't surprised because basically, I was already notified.

Our love with each other went well.

All the tables turned when one day, I felt that he changed.

I tried to save our relationship. I really tried.

"Huhulaan kita Denise." I just stayed quiet.

"Lolokohin ka daw ng boyfriend mo," he shamefully predicted.

I pinned my stare at him as I tried to analyse his thoughts. "Lahat ng hula mo nagkakatotoo." I answered plainly.

I noticed how he swallowed a lump in his throat. "N-Nagkatotoo na nga," he mumbled, not looking at me directly.

I nodded weakly. "Why?"

I'm not a fool to not feel that there's something wrong with us– with him.

He sighed. "It's not you, it's me"

I laughed through my nose and shook my head in disbelief.

"I'm asking for a reason so do not answer me with that clichè line Andrei. Because if you're being like this, probably it's not me but you who have a problem!"

Silence fell between us for a short time.

"I-I'm already tired. Hindi na kagaya ng dati. I don't feel the s-spark...anymore," he uttered when he finally got the courage to explain.

"Napakababaw mo Andrei. That's why there's this thing we called rest right? Because if someone is tired, we can have a break.

I'm the one who's exhausted in this relationship.

"Sorry."

"Don't say sorry, if you're not really sorry." I retorted.  "F-Fine. I'll let you g-go. You're f-free now.

I observed him just like what he did when he first predicted my future.

"You will leave your new girl for another one because what you only want for love is the spark." I laughed mockingly. "Do not repeat that lame reason if you aren't making efforts to a relationship, Andrei. Definitely, sparks will be gone if only one person will make a way, you fool. Love is a give and take process, just you know. Huwag kang selfish."
