I put on my glasses to cover the massive bags under my eyes, a consequence of a late-night nap that stretched until 5 a.m. As I glanced in the mirror, I saw my puffy eyes, a testament to my lack of sleep.

Walking into the office without my usual makeup, I noticed surprised expressions from some employees. It was the first time they saw me barefaced, with my hair tied up. Despite the attention, I ignored them and headed straight to my office.

As I was about to enter, I overheard Jisoo asking something to Lisa's secretary. I paid no mind until I heard Mina's voice. When I turned to look, it was too late; the door had already closed behind them.

Heading towards my office, I spotted an employee struggling with folders in both hands. I gently grabbed his arm to stop him, causing him to flinch and almost lose his balance.

"Oh, I'm sorry," I quickly apologized, steadying him. His cheeks reddened with embarrassment. "Where are you taking those?" I asked, pointing to the folders.

He replied, "To Ms. Lisa's office, Ma'am." An idea formed in my mind.

"Uh, What's your name again?" I asked.

"Peter, Ms. Kim," he answered politely.

"Okay, Peter. You can give them to me; I'll take care of it," I said, slowly taking the folders from him with complete baffled in his face.

"Are you sure, Ms. Kim—" he wants to protest, but I cut him off, assuring him it was fine. He bowed and let me take the folders in the end.

Breathing deeply to compose myself, I knocked on Lisa's door. After a few seconds, it opened, and my presence made the room fell silent. The expressions of the people inside changed, and I saw Seulgi sigh and mumble something incomprehensible. Bambam took out his phone, and Jisoo showed no emotion. Mina smiled at me briefly.

Lisa was already looking at me as I cleared my throat. Her usual cold and lifeless demeanor made me uneasy.

"Um, Peter tripped and struggled to walk so I insisted on giving him a hand" I explained.

"How come you still have two?" Seulgi remarked sarcastically, earning a subtle nudge from Jisoo.

The unwelcome atmosphere made me feel hot, but I was already there, so I decided to finish what I started. Before I could approach Lisa's desk, Mina stood up and extended her arms to take the folders, but I refused at first.

"I'll help you," she said with a smile. I glanced at Lisa, who ignored us and returned her attention to her desktop. I heard Seulgi murmur "present wife vs. soon-to-be wife," making Bambam laugh as Jisoo shushed them in exasperation.

To end the awkward moment, I handed the folders to Mina, who placed them on Lisa's desk.

"Sorry, I'll go now," I said, bowing my head. As I turned to leave, I noticed Jisoo's eyes softened briefly, as if she was trying to read me, before she looked away.

I walked out and peeked through the window, my heart melting at the sight of Lisa smiling, even if it wasn't genuine. The heavy atmosphere inside the room was replaced by laughter right after I stepped out of the room. I quickly ducked when Jisoo turned towards me.

Realizing that all our employees were watching me, I straightened up and walked naturally to my office. Once inside, I closed the door and leaned against it, feeling the tension dissipate.

I took off my blazer and glasses, sitting in my chair. My stomach growled as I checked the time; it was lunchtime. Too lazy to go out, I decided to eat in the pantry, where I found some bread and made myself a coffee.

While sipping my coffee in silence, Lisa's secretary entered and bowed. "You may join me," I offered, and she sat across from me without hesitation.

"Ms. Kim?" she called me, offering her food.

I smiled and waved my hand amiably. "No, thank you." Lisa's secretary is younger than us, and it was no wonder Lisa treated her like a younger sister. All i could hear is the sound of her spoon and fork along with her delicate chewing of her food.

"Does Lisa always eat at the right time?" I blurted out a question, surprising her so much that she nearly choked. I handed her a bottle of water, and funny how she struggled mouthed "thank you" first instead of saving herself from choking.

Clearing her throat, she said, "It's rare for Ma'am Lisa to go out for food. Her friends usually bring food or order in, but when she's alone, she just has her choco drink."

I nodded, feeling a pang of guilt of being a useless wife.

"Ms. Jennie?" she called, snapping me out of my thoughts as I haven't realized that I'm spacing out. I smiled at her.

"But don't worry, Ms. Kim. Ms. Jisoo usually spends their lunch break together." She added. yup

"May I ask you a favor?" I said in a whisper.

She nodded, and I moved to sit next to her, leaning in to explain my request. She listened intently, occasionally suggesting things.

After a while, I thanked her and returned to my office. Passing by Lisa's office, I saw her alone, focused on her laptop. A hot chocolate was on her table, just as her secretary had mentioned. But knowing Jisoo had visited, I was certain Lisa had her lunch.

I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions as I continued with my day.
