Third Person's POV

It had been almost a month since Lisa temporarily moved into Jisoo's place. Jisoo observed subtle but significant changes in Lisa. She seemed brighter day by day. Though Lisa didn’t go to work, she never neglected her responsibilities as CEO. Her secretary provided daily updates on the company, reassuring her that everything was under control. Little did Lisa know that her wife was shouldering all the work that needed to be done.

Meanwhile, Lisa lounged on the couch, a movie playing on the TV that she paid little attention to. Her new routine was simple: breakfast, lunch, watching TV or playing PS4, dinner, and sleep. Sometimes she felt a pang of homesickness and boredom. Her friends were too busy with their respective work to visit, and she feared that soon she would be bored to tears. That was until the doorbell rang, snapping her out of her thoughts. Without hesitation, she went to the door to see who it might be.

"Lisassi!" Irene exclaimed as soon as Lisa opened the door.

"Hello!" Lisa greeted back, smiling as if they were meeting for the first time. "If you’re looking for Ms. Jisoo Kim, I'm sorry, but she's not here," Lisa informed her.

"Oh, actually, Ms. Jisoo called me, asking for my help," Irene said, causing Lisa to frown in confusion.

"What? Why? What happened?" she asked in a panic.

"She told me there’s a sneaky thief inside," Irene said with a serious expression, making Lisa even more anxious.

"WHAT?! HOW COME SHE DIDN'T TELL ME?! WAIT! IS IT STILL HERE NOW? WHAT THE HELL!" Lisa's panic was palpable, and it was hard for Irene to suppress her laughter at how gullible Lisa was.

Clearing her throat, Irene continued her jest. "Yeah, Jisoo also mentioned the thief was... tall."

"Then let's call the cops now!" Lisa said, ready to grab Irene.

"Wait, no... I can beat her. I just need to cut her bangs," Irene said naturally. At first, Lisa was still puzzled and didn’t know how to react. Irene could barely contain her laughter while Lisa was still unaware. Realization dawned on Lisa at the same time Irene burst into laughter.

"Yah! I'm not a thief!" Lisa whined, stomping her feet.

"If you could just see your face, it’s really funny!" Irene said between laughs, which made Lisa eventually join in.

Once they calmed down, Lisa opened the door wider for Irene, who was holding a paper bag. "Drinks?" Lisa offered when they sat down in the living room, but Irene shook her head.

Their conversation started with random topics, ranging from work to mutual friends. When they ran out of things to say, Irene suddenly remembered the paper bag she brought. "Before I forget, I have this..." Irene paused, taking out the food from the bag. "This."

"What's this?" Lisa asked as the tantalizing smell made her stomach growl.

"Monkey brain," Irene said playfully, referencing an old prank. Lisa immediately remembered.

"Oh, really? I miss this!" she exclaimed.

"Sorry if I have to cook one of your relatives' brains again, Lis."

"You're so cruel to my relatives, Joohyun Bae!" Lisa responded dramatically. "Just a minute! I'll transfer this to a plate," she said, heading to the kitchen.

**Irene's POV:**

Lisa reappeared with a small tray, placing it on the mini table in front of us. "The sneaky thief made you this refreshing orange juice," she said, smiling mischievously. I raised an eyebrow, eyeing the glass of juice.

"I doubt it," I said, making a disgusted face.

"How could you?" Lisa scoffed, pretending to be offended. "I didn't put any poison in your drink as retaliation for you cooking my relatives' brains!"

"Still! I doubt it." Her lips pouted, and she was about to take the juice away, but I quickly snatched it from her hand. "Don't be so dramatic, sneaky monkey."

"Pretty monkey, indeed," she declared proudly.

"Whoever you are... Pretty sneaky monkey," I said with a short laugh, seeing her shoulders slump.

"Okay, fine. Whatever makes you happy, gorgeous Bae Joohyun," Lisa said. Her unexpected compliment made me blush. Good thing she didn’t notice, as she was focused on the food I brought.

"How is it?" I asked, trying to forget the flutter in my chest.

"Do I have to say it? Well, it's really good!" she said, her mouth full. "Want some?"

"No thanks," I replied, watching her intently until she looked up and our gazes met.

"Joohyun? Is something bothering you?" I nodded, too nervous to speak but knowing I needed to.

"I have these feelings that have been bugging me for years. Today, I decided to deal with them, especially since it's clear I don’t have a chance with her." Our gazes remained locked, making me feel somewhat at ease.

"It's hard, Lisa. It really is." I blew out my cheeks, trying to lessen the tension. It worked a bit. "May I ask you a question, Lis?"

"Of course," she answered immediately.

"Did I make you happy? Did I help you forget the sadness, even for a short time?"

"J-Joohyun... Of course, you did. Wh-" I thought it would be easier to do this, but I was wrong.

"I'm sorry, Lisa," I said, her mouth falling open. "What for?" she asked.

"I'm sorry if I fell in love with you. I'm sorry if I'm getting hurt without you even knowing it." Lisa went silent, worry evident on her face.

"J-Joohyun, I- uh, sorry... I didn’t know-"

"Lisa, don’t feel bad, please! I decided to say this because I've already accepted the fact." I smiled at her.

"What do you mean?"

"I tried so many times to fit myself here," I said, pointing to her chest where her heart was. "But I’m not... I’m not the missing piece, Lisa. And it will never be me, nor anyone. It’s only her... Only Jennie can build you again."

Deadly silence overtook us. Lisa remained still, her eyes averted.

"I was ready to take you away from her, especially when I found out what she did to you, Lisa. I was so mad I wanted to pull her hair out." I chuckled to ease the tension. "Can you promise me one thing?" She didn’t answer but shifted her gaze back to me.

"When you’re ready, please give your heart a chance to be happy again. I know it’s not easy, but believe me... you’ll never regret it."

"And Lisa," I said, holding her hands. "Don’t worry about me. Soon, I’ll be okay." She smiled, and I did too.

I wish it will be...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lisa watched Irene leave, feeling a mix of gratitude and sorrow. Irene's confession had been unexpected, but it made her realize the depth of the love and support she had around her. Her thoughts drifted back to Jennie, and the letter she left on the table.

Jennie's words echoed in her mind: "We are waiting for you to come home. Please, come back soon."

The pain of their separation still stung, but Irene's words planted a seed of hope in Lisa's heart. Maybe, just maybe, she could find a way back to Jennie. For now, she would take it one day at a time, letting the love and memories guide her.
