Jennie's POV:
'I hate you, Jennie,'
No, please, you don't mean it, Lisa...
'I hate you, Jennie'
No, you didn't...
"Jennie..." Kai's voice trailed off as he approached me cautiously, concerned etched across his face.
"B-babe..." I removed my hands from covering my eyes, meeting Kai's gaze with a steely glare. I didn't move, my emotions churning inside me like a storm.
"Your stupid wife did this," Kai complained bitterly, gesturing to his beaten appearance.
"No, stop, Kai," I said calmly, shoving his hand away as he reached out to touch mine.
"Jen... Babe..." Kai's voice softened, pleading, as he attempted to grasp my hands.
"Shut it! This is all your doing!" I snapped, With a sudden surge of anger, I forcefully pushed his hands away, causing him to wince in pain. Unintentionally, my hand landed on his injured area, eliciting a sharp gasp from him.
"What do you mean?" He asked, raising my palm to halt his attempt to touch me.
"You're nothing but a liar! I regret ever believing your deceitful tale... I can't stand the sight of your face any longer," I declared, cutting him off before he could respond, as I hurriedly left in pursuit of Lisa. But it was too late; her absence was evident, her car nowhere in sight, indicating her departure. I contemplated seeking assistance from Jisoo, Bambam, or Seulgi, but I hesitated.
Flashback...
"Ma'am," my secretary began hesitantly, "Ms. Lisa's secretary informed me that your wife didn't show up at her office today." I instructed her to obtain a list of names of our new investors from Lisa, but it seemed she wasn't there as expected.
"I'll just inquire about it later then," I dismissed her, feeling a knot of worry forming in my stomach as she left. Just then, my phone rang, and I saw it was Jisoo calling. Perhaps she had some information about Lisa's whereabouts.
"Jen? Where's Lisa?" Jisoo's urgent voice echoed through the phone as soon as I answered. Confusion clouded my mind as I tried to process her question.
"Aren't you with her?" I questioned back, but my phone accidentally slipped from my grip, abruptly cutting off our conversation. Before I could retrieve it, my secretary returned.
"Ma'am, there's a letter for you," she announced, handing me the envelope before swiftly exiting the room, leaving me alone with my escalating concerns.
My eyes widened as I opened the envelope, realizing I had forgotten about its contents. Inside was the documentation regarding the property that was supposedly Kai's, but Lisa had purchased before him.
According to the title, both Lisa and I were listed as owners, granting me the authority to sign and return the documents to Kai. I made my way to the address provided. Realization hits me, the papers i had signed yesterday were about this.
Upon arrival, I was taken aback to find a crowd of people gathered there. To my astonishment, among them were Seulgi, Jisoo, and Bambam. Jisoo furrowed her brow in confusion upon spotting me.
"Jen? What are you doing here?" she asked as she approached me, echoing the very question I had in mind.
"I should be the one asking that, unnie,"
"What do you mean, you?... Wait, where's Lisa? We've been searching for her," Jisoo's sweating and darting eyes with worry. I was about to respond when Bambam interjected.
"Noona! I found it! This is why Lisa left abruptly," he declared, handing Jisoo a crumpled piece of paper. Bambam's glare bore into me, his nostrils flaring with anger. Jisoo carefully uncrumpling the paper and her expression darkened as she read its contents. she laid the paper down and narrowed her eyes.
"I can't believe you, Jen! How could you do that to Lisa?!" Her voice rang out loudly, drawing the attention of everyone around us. Now, all eyes were on us, watching the unfolding drama with keen interest.
"What's wrong? And why are you here, Jennie?" approached by Seulgi, drawn by Jisoo's voice.
"You have no idea how important this is to Lisa, Jennie! And you handed it over to him so easily?!" Bambam and Seulgi restrained Jisoo as she tried to get near me, her eyes ablaze with fury.
"Kai owns it... Lisa just took it from him," Jisoo vehemently pushed off Bambam and Seulgi's restraining hands, her desperation palpable. Despite her efforts, they held her back, amplifying the sense of apprehension in the room.
"Did you hear what you're saying?! Lisa didn't steal anything from that bastard! This coffee shop is all she has left from her mother... And look what you've done?!" Jisoo forcefully pushed away Bambam and Seulgi's grasp on her arms, but they refused to let her break free. A shiver of fear ran through me at Jisoo's intense demeanor.
"Let's go, Jisoo!" Seulgi intervened, pulling Jisoo away. Before they could even step into the car, I called out Jisoo's name once more.
"Please, tell me where Lisa is," I pleaded, holding the door open to prevent it from closing.
"Quit playing dumb, Jennie! Lisa's probably tearing your idiot boyfriend apart right now," Bambam remarked as he fastened his seatbelt.
"So, if you want to ensure your boyfriend's safety, you better go and save his balls," Seulgi interjected. I glanced at Jisoo, but she was staring straight ahead, her brow furrowed in clear anger. Even I felt the weight of her frustration.
I arrived at Jongin's office and dashed towards the entrance. His secretary approached me, visibly shaken, and I demanded to know where they are.
"Ma'am, Mr. Jongin was attacked by someone," she mumbled, her voice trembling.
"She's my wife! So, tell me where they are now?!" I exclaimed, desperation creeping into my tone. She averted her gaze and promptly led me to them.
As I pushed the door open, I saw Lisa's back, her shoulders trembling with rapid movements.
"L-Lisa?" I called her name softly, a pang of concern hitting my chest. The sound of a small sob reached my ears, intensifying the ache within me. It worsened as she slowly turned around, her tear-stained face revealing the depth of her anguish. Gasping, I witnessed her tears cascading down her cheeks.
As she turned away, her movements strained with effort, I watched her approach me with a mix of emotion that was hard to distinguish . I had the urge to embrace her tightly, to pour out apologies endlessly, but an invisible force held me in place, rendering me immobile. As she drew nearer, still avoiding my gaze, my heart clenched painfully in my chest.
Then, her words shattered the fragile silence like glass hitting pavement. "I hate you." My mouth fell agape, a silent plea echoing in the depths of my soul. She preceded her pace, retreating from me.
"I hate you." The words reverberated in my mind, a relentless refrain that threatened to consume me whole.
