By the time you and Kakyoin had found Polnareff and Avdol, you were too late. Avdol was laying on his back, blood spilling from a gunshot wound on his forehead. Without even thinking, you sprinted to him, quickly kneeling beside him and hovering your hands over his body. You were shaking at the thought that he might have been dead. No. You refused to think that. You grabbed his wrist to check for a heartbeat and relaxed when you felt his heart pumping. You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding. Kakyoin appeared beside you, doing the same thing. He looked uo at you and gave a small wink before speaking.
"He doesn't have a pulse..He's dead." He said sadly. Catching onto what he was doing, you bowed your head, and closed your eyes. You allowed yourself to create fake tears, but then again, they were real from the relief knowing that your friend was still alive. You felt a little guilty at the sound of distress in Polnareff's voice, but if you wanted them both to survive, you had to do what you did best.
Bullshit your way through.
Polnareff moved to attack, but the both of you had different plans. Kakyoin gave you a short nod, and you gave him a nod in return, silently telling him that you knew what to do. Both of you stood up, and dashed in opposite directions. Kakyoin ran to Polnareff and grabbed him, dragging him into a nearby truck and flooring it down the road. Before the man could go after them, your image flickered and you appeared in front of him, tackling him into a shop window. He grunted as he hit his head against the hard flooring, going limp under you. You stood up quickly, your image flickering and now landing in the bed of the truck. Kakyoin and Polnareff seemed to be arguing in the cab.
You maneuvered yourself around in the bed of the truck, banging your fist on the window to gain their attention. Kakyoin swerved, making you hit the opposite side of the truck.
"Sorry Y/n!" Kakyoin called back to you.
You grabbed the little window to keep yourself steady on the bumpy dirt road. "Just wait till we get out of here. Im beating the fuck out of every single one of you. Especially you, Polnareff." You growled.
At that time, Kakyoin noticed something glint on the steering wheel. Looking down at it, he saw the reflection of the Hanged Man. Gasping, he yelled out to you to watch out. You spun around, but your eyes were met with nothing.
"Kak what are you talking about? There's nothing here!" You said, searching around you. Suddenly, your ankle was grabbed and you were pulled towards the tailgate. You screamed out of surprise, and at the same time, the small window was shattered.
"Its the stand! The bastard caught up to us!" Kakyoin yelled. He slammed on the breaks, but because of the rocky terrain, he lost control of the truck. The tires skid across the ground as you yelled in fear, not being able to grasp anything for support. As the truck hit the wall and flipped, your body slammed against the side before falling out and tumbling on the ground. The two boys in the cab yelled your name is surprise. You felt the rocks and debris cut into your skin, and you desperately summoned your stand.
Atlantis formed behind you, and you felt his arms enclose around you, and the skidding on his feet on the ground. He gently placed you on the ground and then flickered over to the truck. After pulling Kakyoin and Polnareff out, he returned back to you where his disappeared. Polnareff spotted the stand in the reflection on the bumper, and used Silver Chariot to destory it.
"Avoid the reflections!" He shouted. The two dashed to where you were laying on the ground, struggling to push yourself up. Your arms were torn up, and there was blood seeping down from your hairline.
"Y/n!" Polnareff shouted. "Are you okay?" The both knelt beside you and helped you back to your feet.
"Y-yeah..just..a few.." You winced. "Little scratches.." Your legs were covered in various cuts, and the shirt you wore was torn, showing the scraps on your back. Your left arm was throbbing and aching. The skin was turning a shade of purple and you could only guess that it was broken. You bit your lip in pain and wiped the blood away that was trailing over your eye.
"Can you walk?" Kakyoin asked. You nodded. Surpisingly, your legs weren't hurting as much as you thought they would have. Other than your arm, and the aching of your body, you were fine.
"Hey are you guys okay? Need me to bring you some medicine?" All three of you looked up in surprise at the boy who seemed to appear out of nowhere.
"No, were fine kid." Polnareff said. "Look its dangerous, get out of here!" He said, trying to shoo the child away.
"Woah," He said, looking at the overturned truck that was billowing smoke. "You guys totally messed uo your car! Wait, hey! Miss your bleeding! Are you sure you're okay?"
"We're fine!" You reassured.
By this time, all three of you had noticed the glint in his eye, and the reflection of the Hanged Man.
"That asshole!" Polnareff yelled.
"He's reflected in the kid's eye!" Kakyoin said.
"Don't look at us kid!" Polnareff yelled as you dove away from the boy. Polnareff continued to shout at the boy, who was in deep confusion. "Stop following me with your eyes!"
"Huh? But your bleeding!"
"Look Im perfectly fine! See? Perfectly fine!" Polnareff flexed his arms, attempting to convince the boy. "So go look over there!" The boy made a sound of surprise as the reflection of the Hanged Man became visible. "Damn you, Centerfold!" Polnareff yelled, summoning Silver Chariot.
"What're you going to do?" The man cackled. "You wouldn't gouge out an innocent boy's eyes would you, Polnareff?!" His hand slammed down against Polnareff's neck, leaving an indentation of where his hand was. "And now, I finally got you! You can't run anymore. Not unless you gouge the kid's eyes out!"
"You disgusting, cruel, son of a bitch!" Kakyoin said. "You're dead!"
"Hey kid!" You shouted, making him look at you. "Sorry about this, when we get to town, I'll buy you whatever kind of sweet you want. Deal?" The kid nodded in confusion, as you scooped up loose dirt from the ground and threw it at his eyes.
"Hey! You got sand in my eyes!" The kid cried, forcing his eyes closed. The glint of light shot from his eye, and Polnareff used Silver Chariot to slice at it.
"Polnareff, now he's in your eye," Kakyoin said.
"I don't know how it works, but I think he moves at the speed of light. I knew if the kid closed his eyes, his next move would be to my eyes," Polnareff said. "Fortunately, Y/n caught on to my thinking."
At the sound of a cry of pain, the three of you started your way to the place where the real man had to be.
