Hali was riding ahead of the group when she saw a burned down farmhouse. She rides back to Gandalf
"A burnt farmhouse ahead and I don't like the look of it Gandalf" Hali whisperingly speaks in Elvish, "Thorin will not see reason to go to Lord Elrond" Gandalf mutters back "than we take them through the hidden pass, they'll know no better till we get there and I'm sure we'll run into some trouble before we reach the entrance of the cave" Hali drags on. The dwarves make camp anyhow around the burnt farm house Thorin sends Fili and Kili off to watch ponies for the night.

Gandalf and Thorin argue over going to Rivendell where they could get proper rest, restore the lost provisions from when one of the ponies took a spooking and dashed off falling into the river taking both Fili and Kili to get it back onto land both of them half drowned. They could also get advise along with whether or not Lord Elrond could read their map. Gandalf storms off in a huff and Bilbo is asked to bring dinner to the boys which he does but when he gets there both Fili and Kili are looking troubled "what's happened?" Bilbo asks as he sets the bowls down on a fallen log "we had sixteen ponies but now there's only fourteen" Kili says they all recount the ponies and really do notice there are two missing they set off to try and find them without telling Thorin. The brothers send the little hobbit off by himself with them rushing quickly back to the camp.

Bilbo slowly creeps around trees trying not to look at the giant trolls that sit around a large fire with a stew pot arguing about dinner, Bilbo found the pen where their horses are being kept but he now suddenly realizes he can't untie the giant knots and he has nothing to cut through it till he notices the knife hanging off one of the trolls belts.  He goes to pull to try and pull it off without drawing the attentions of the beasts, he goes to grab the knife again but he's picked up but the troll the piece of cloth he was using to blow his snotty nose. "Look what came out of my otter" he says in alarm drawing the other two trolls attention to the now very nervous little hobbit.

Bilbo stutters in the hold of the trolls " Bilbo Baggins, a burr- a hobbit" shaking all over, wondering how to make owl noises before they throttled him. "what's a burrahobbit" the trolls say a bit startled, trolls being slow in the head and very suspicious of anything new to them.

William, Tom and Bert argue over whether or not they could cook the poor small creature from the shire. Balin is the first to break through the treeline to rescue Bilbo, the Trolls give horrid howls of disguise before they are swooshing their hands low to the ground scooping up dwarves and putting them in sacks and some on the rolling spit over the fire. Once again the trolls begin to argue in hushed whispers while William turns the spit with the dwarves on it, Hali slinks in the shadows trying to think of a way to distract the trolls long enough so that they don't realize that the sun rise is quickly coming. She notices Bilbo begins to stand up in his sack as he was the closest to the muttering trolls to have any sense of what they were talking about he begins to stutter and come up with lies to slow down the trolls process of cooking them alive down and once she realizes Bilbo has go things under control she takes off at the speed of Hermes back through the tree passed the farm searching for that stubborn grey wizard.

"Gandalf you great stubborn fool, turn your arse around right now the dwarves are in danger of being eaten and I thought you wanted them to reach the mountain most besides the dwarves themselves since something so dark is rising again yet you left us because you could not handle the stubbornness of dwarves" she draws in a new breath to relive her lungs of the lack of oxygen. Without another word to the wizard she started running back to the dwarves hoping he was not far behind her as the sun made it's fast approach over the horizon.

Gandalf and Hali reach the clearing round the trolls fire and sneak up around to the tall standing rock just blocking the beginnings of sun from kissing the flesh of the trolls. "The dawn shall take you all" Gandalf bellows while Hali begins to untie the sacks and move to cut down the dwarves on the spit over the fire. The trolls screech as the sun shine through the crack in the stone that hid them, "Well everyone we've now just evaded our first near death experience of this whole quest. I mean it's going a lot better than any of my other quests have gone but than again I was like fourteen when I was sent on it" Hali chuckles to herself as the dwarves just watch her while collecting their things from the shiny pile the trolls had thrown them into.

"Them must have come down from the Edenmoors but trolls never come this far south" Gandalf mutters bitterly, "Not unless they have a reason to be this far from home, I find it doesn't matter which side you fight for if you feel there is danger you will leave the only place you know to protect yourself" Hali flashes Gandalf a sad smile before walking off to find a hidden cave since it was now obvious these creatures could not have moved in daylight.

By the time she gets back she can see an argument has transpired between the king and wizard so she calls out to them, " there is a cave with all of the trolls stolen treasure maybe we could find things of use in it" she looks to Bilbo as he is the only one without a sword. She leads them into the woods back to the cave.
