Bain tries to keep the dwarves in the house but they all sneak out and head for the armoury for iron forged weapons. They sadly get caught when Kili trips down the stairs with a heavy arm full of swords.

They are brought before the master of the lake, this man had no air of nobility lest it be of animals and not a city of man, Hali stood stiff in the arms of the guard a snarl on her lips pulling them back to flash her teeth like a caged animal as the men roughly dragged, shoved and pull the ragged company along.

"Enemies of the state Ser, caught them trying to rob the armoury" the little wet Chihuahua-rat in black. Hali thrashed out of the guards grip along with Dwalin before standing before the people "you do not know to whom you speak, this is no common thief this is Thorin son of Thàr king under the mountain" Dwalin names him as Thorin puffs out his chest in pride.

People circled in the square fall silent at the mention of the return of the sons of Durin. "you will bring ruin upon this town, you have no right to enter that mountain" Bard scowls as he pushes through the crowned of towns people. "I have the only right" Thorin scornfully disagrees looking back at the tall bowman. Hali looks back and forth between both men and dwarves, "If the rightful king of the mountain is returned to his home and successfully fulfills his quest of slaying a dragon that hasn't been seen for sixty year would not also the people who showed him aid in his time of need not be rewarded" Hali steps up trying to mediate the hot headed company in which she finds herself.

" I would see fortune return to the once rich city of Dale and her people, i would see the streets run gold with the wealth of that mountain to rebuild Dale twice over. I turn now to the master of the lake, What say you?" Thorin turns taking two steps up the stairs in front of the master of Laketown. "he says thrice, Welcome Welcome Welcome" the master of the lake ushers in the dwarven company to his home for a feast. The company eat and drink their fill, dancing and singing.

Hali stands out upon the balcony with a gloomy expression, "why such the sour face Li" Kili asks coming up beside her, "where almost there but than again still not even scratching the tip of the ice berg, we have come so far what if we fail now when the world needs us most and I just have a really bad feeling everything is gonna get worse for us from here on before it begins to get better" she lets out in one breath before taking a deep calming inhale. Kili looks at her with sad eyes rubbing her back not knowing what to tell her.

By morning Hali and the company walk down to the docks where boats wait to take them across the river with all of their new supplies and weapons. Kili looks paler than before and stumbles, Thorin stops him "you are sick you will only slow us down join us when you have recovered" he tells his young nephew pushing him back to sit on a barrel away from the boats, "uncle I will carry him if I must, we grew up on the stories you told us of Erebor" Fili argues looking distressed at his uncles' decision. "No Fili one day you will be king you belong with the company" Thorin tries to pull him into the boat but he stands strongly beside his brother along with Oin the eldest of the group. "Thorin we must be going it will take us two days by foot to reach the mountain we must leave now if we are to make it to there and find the passage way to the door before Durin's day" Hali presses looking sadly and her dear friends.

They row themselves across the lake, leaving the boats on the shore and hiking their packs up on their back before taking off into the ash grey lifeless terrain over jegged hills before coming to the ruins of the stone city of Dale. "what is this place?" Bilbo whispers at the top of the hill, "This was the once rich and life of all trade from which things of Erebor was sold, this my dear hobbit is the ruins of Dale it is what is left of the Desolation of Smaug" Hali tells him placing her hand on his shoulder remembering all the detailed paintings of the city in which life bloomed in the books in Elrond's study. They continue down the hill.
