The company are stopped by an iron gate as the elves try to take them back and orcs come racing from the forests also heading for the company. The elves defend themselves against the orcs while the dwarves are once again set on their path down the river with an injured Kili clutching his leg.
The rapids take them further away from the elvish palace and the raid of orcs. Hali guides the father floating out meme era pulling them to shore.
The half drowned company paddle as best they can to the rocky shore, each trying to pull their heavy water logged selves from the cracking barrels. Hali pulls herself up onto the rocks and becomes instantly dry, she checks herself over for all of her gear. She dumps the water from her helmet and boots before she kneels beside Kili, "this may hurt Ki" she said without explaining what she meant by it and before either brother could ask why Kili let out an almost war like cry as she grabbed his injured leg to her side putting her elbow in the water the brothers watched the water seamlessly and certainly magically climb up her forearm along to Kili's legs, coming to swirl and wash over the poisoned arrow hole in his thigh. The water with drawls the poison turning into a black sphere as it leaves his leg and splashes on the rock faces beside them.
She continues till the water stops turning black and the hole in his leg scabs over all the while Bofur and Fili watch her do it. "we have to keep moving there is an orc pack not far behind us" Thorin commands while Hali and Fili slowly pull Kili to his feet while the rest of the company tries to get their bearings. Bilbo encourages them that they were so close and Balin pointed out that a lake lay between them and that mountain and they had no means to cross it.
An arrow comes out of no where putting everyone on edge the all swing around full speed Kili picking up a stone to throw it only to have it knocked out of his hand by the next arrow the man shoot. "Do it again and your dead" he says with a deep sense of following that threat, while all of this transpires Balin takes notice of the bardge-men's boat. "excuse me but I bet those boots have seen better years and I expect there are a few young mouths to feed back home" Balin inquires of the man, "yes two girls and one boy" he states lowering his long bow "and a beautiful wife as well" he says but by the look on the mans face that is not seaming to be the case, "we are simply merchants traveling from the Blue mountains to the Iron Hills" Balin reasons before Thorin speaks but "we will need weapons and clothes" his gruff voice practically demands. Balin being the diplomat reasons with the man and compansates that they will pay for his services across the lake and into the town without being seen by anyone else. They load the eleven barrel on to the boat and hop on along with them. The dwarves huddle by the front of the boat counting out the payment to the man. Bilbo sits beside him and starts up a conversation finding out his name so that when Bofur yells out to watch for the large floats of ice. "His name is Bard" Bilbo chides at them, "I don't care what this lippy lake man calls himself let's just throw him over board and be don't with him" Dwalin hisses. Hali looks disappointingly at them. "Come on lad we're ten coins short" Balin looks at the lads. "Don't look at me I have been bleed dried by this expedition" Gloin complains that is before he sees the mountain come into view and he rushingly hands over the last of his gold to Balin and Bard commands they had it or be found out. The dwarves and Bilbo climb into the barrels. "And you miss" he looks to Hali "I think not I may be the daughter of the god of the sea but no way in hell am I gonna smell like dead fish. I'll just swim if you don't mind" she says before jumping over board and following the boat from under the water. She watches the toll bridge as a greasy naked mole rat look man slinks out from behind the guard Percy.
"You can have the fish for nothing, they were never here and you didn't see them." Bars hands off a couple of gold coins to a couple of poor fisher women who were fixing a net.
"Da our house is being watched" a young boy comes running at Bard, he places his hand on his shoulder before ushering the dwarves through the market he distracts the guards telling them they'll have to swim up though his toilet into the house. Bard walks up his steps with his son by his side before he tosses a gold coin at the two spy's in a row boat in front of his house, "you can tell the master I'm done for the day" he snips at the two men.
"Bain get them up" he ushers his son to the dwarves while Hali helps herself up on the lower house dock standing in a quick dry with a puddle at her feet but her becoming completely dry. "Well that was a nice swim wasn't it boys" she giggles at the grumpy dwarves as Bard's daughters hand out blankets and dry clothes to change into after that long cold swim.
"What about the weapons we paid for" Thorin hisses Bard shows off recycled weapons made out of old tools. Thorin and Balin look out the window noticing the wind lance. Bard tells Bain to keep the dwarves till sun down.
