It is dawn. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli are running.
"A red sun rises. Blood has been spilt this night." Calls out warily from atop the hill, the sound of horses is heard.
The four hide. A large group of cavalry appear. Hali comes out of hiding as they pass, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli behind her.
"Riders of Rohan! What news from the Mark?" She calls out the Rohirrim. At a signal from Èomer, the riders make a quick turn and head towards the three companions, encircling them. As they stop, they point their spears at them.

"What business does an elf, a man, a women and a dwarf have in the Riddermark?" Éomer questions, he again speaks with less patience.
"Speak quickly!"

"Give me your name, horsemaster, and I shall give you mine." Gimli tons the young marshal.

Èomer gets off his horse. Aragorn puts a hand on Gimli's shoulder while Hali takes a step back behind Aragorn.

"I would cut off your head - dwarf - if it stood but a little higher from the ground." Èomer tons back look down on Gimli. Legolas quickly aims an arrow at Èomer.
"You would die before your stroke fell!" Legolas stares down the horse master. Aragorn pushes down Legolas' arm.
"I'm Aragorn, son of Arathorn. This is Gimli, son of Glóin, and Legolas, from the Woodland realm." Aragorn introduces them, Èomer looks undecidedly at the three when Hali moves up to stare at the young man.

"Do not tell me you have forgotten who I am Èomer, I may not be wearing my helm and cloak but you think you would know an old friends face" Hali stands right in front of him. "Ostana, it is you. It is good to see you old friend." Èomer moves in to hug her. "We are friends of Rohan and of Théoden, your king." Aragorn says breaking apart the little reunion.

"Théoden no longer recognizes friend from foe." Èomer tells him looking disheartened, "what do you mean he doesn't know his friends, what has happened here" Hali whispers harshly to herself though Legolas still heard her. Èomer removes his helmet. "Not even his own kin." He says as the spears from his men are withdrawn.
"Saruman has poisoned the mind of the king and claimed lordship over this land. My company are those loyal to Rohan. And for that, we are banished." Èomer continues "damn that white wizard I knew I should have run him through the last time I saw him" Hali growls.

"The White Wizard is cunning. He walks here and there they say, as an old man, hooded and cloaked." Èomer gives Legolas a meaningful look. "And everywhere his spies slip past our nets."

"We are no spies. We track a band of Uruk-hai westward across the plains. They have taken two of our friends captive." Aragorn points out what they were here for.

"The Uruks are destroyed. We slaughtered them during the night." Èomer returns "But there were two hobbits, did you see two hobbits with them?" Gimli questions "They would be small, only children to your eyes." Hali says with great hasted and worry.

"We left none alive. We piled the carcasses and burned them." Points to smoke in the distance passed the next high ridge. "Dead?" Gimli stammers
Èomer nods in his direction "I am sorry."
Legolas rests a hand on Gimli. While Aragorn tries to calm Hali down.
