The finally reach the mountain the younger dwarves who were not among the group when Erebor was in her prime looked on in amazement while their elders looked and saw the horrors and the memories they wished to forget as for Hali she saw something man of her world could never ever manifest in their wildest dreams, the earth turned black from the scorching fires of dragons breath dried was the blood of those killed and ash of those singed swirled upon the wind and flutter in whatever direction it was headed. "Begin the search there has to be a way up to the door somewhere on this mountain" Thorin calls out while the dwarves split up, Hali staying close to her small hobbit as they head off in a west direction to search the mountain side for steps. "Bilbo look up I think we found them" Hali points up to two large dwarven king statues carved into the side of the mountain with jigsaw puzzle looking stairs carved between them looking very complex. "THORIN!!!!!!!!" Bilbo bellowed as hard as he could calling out to their leader therefore drawing the whole group to their side. "You've done it Mr.Baggins" Thorin claps Bilbo on the back before leading the company up the stairs.

They reach the top as the sun starts to sink in the sky, the search for the key hole in the mountain side but find nothing. They franticly start banging on the wall as the sun goes down and the moon comes up.

"It has to be here somewhere" Hali whispers as the dwarves start beating on rock walls with their weapons. When they realize that they cannot break the door down Thorin told them to go back as he stared one last time at the wall where Bilbo and Hali still stand "it is over" he whispers to the both of them dropping the key before following his company back down the stairs.

Hali turns back at the wall when all of a sudden moonlight shines upon the key hole, "Bilbo hurry the key, Bilbo the key!!!!" Hali screams in panic when he almost kicks the key off the cliff, a large boot slams down on the string it was tied too.

Thorin picks it up as the entire company watches him unlock the hidden door to the halls of their forefather's, "Balin, I know these halls, I know this stone" Thorin runs his hand along the wall as Balin looks on with tears in his eyes.

Balin tries to explain what the Arkenstone looks like to Bilbo before sending him down the stairs to the golden horde of Thrain. Thorin paces outside with a cold look and a crazed gaze in his eyes it makes Hali uncomfortable to stand too close to him. The rest of the company take up comfortable positions to rest while they wait on Bilbo to return with the stone.
